April 30th Wednesday
End of the month, we had rain last night 6mm. We have had some good rain over the last few months here in White Cliffs the whole town is green the first time in a long time if this keeps up we may to open a lawn mower shop in White Cliffs, just joking I have never seen a lawn mower here.

The doctor gave me a great report today, I just have the same bug that everyone has all is well.

Tomorrow morning we head into Broken Hill to the AgFair on friday, and I just read 80% change of 10 to 20mm of rain on the day we were going to the fair.

Unreal it has to be one of the hottest and dry-est city in Australia and it rains on AgFair day I know they need water let's hope it comes on Sunday morning.

As we are taking the Ford Transit Van I gave it a really big clean out today was it dirty, well it took me five hours to clean it.

We will start May in Broken Hill.

April 29th Tuesday
We worked on what we need to start the kitchen making a big list of what we need. We will be going to Broken Hill Thursday, Friday and Saturday to buy what we need from the hardware shop.

Broken Hill AgFair is on this weekend Friday and Saturday it much the same as the Henty Field Day, if you want to look at it click here.

Today we had a big clean up in out food room that room almost completed, what is a food room to start off with it is underground and is ground temperature 23c every day of the year summer and winter. We will build a metal fly screen wall with door way it looking good when it is painted I take some pictures.

It been hard work the last few day I have had some high sugar levels my blood reading 16 to 18 not good to I am back to 7.6 a lot better 5.7 perfect reading, I am booked in to see the flying Doctor tomorrow Wednesday.

Royal Flying Doctor Service, every Wednesday it lands in White Cliffs.

I have to right a story about the service one day it is a outstanding service.

April 28th Monday
Well it a special day, Susan my daughter passed her driving test and now has "P" plates today, she already has a car a very nice Honda five door.

Only a short update tonight, I have been sorting out panels today which will go where.

As you can see the trailer unloaded and those panels are heavy I now have to cut them to sizes required.

I did a lot of work on top of the underground today to drain water away from the roof area. It was a full on hard day.

April 27th Sunday
A big day in White Cliffs the 120th White Rodeo over a 1000 people in town it will be a big night at the pub tonight, a good night to stay home.

Yesterday they had 7mm of rain today was just perfect.

It been on every year for 120yr's

We Pikey, Tony and I unloaded the big trailer today, that was a really big job, so now we can start the next stage of rebuilding our outback home.

Guys thank you for the help, we live part way up the hill over looking the town and I was told getting a fork lift up the hill was out of the question so we did it the hard way.

Broke the Bank, the only bank in White Cliffs is a lone ATM at the general store, and with over a 1000 people in town for the rodeo the ATM ran out of money that was bad news but it goes to show how much business comes to town. The locals were lending each other money.

Went out this morning and the big trailer had a flat tyre, well that's a job for tomorrow.

April 25th Friday (ANZAC DAY)
World War I (WWI or WW1), also known as the First World War, was a global war centred in Europe that began on 28 July 1914 and lasted until 11 November 1918.
From the time of its occurrence until the approach of World War II, it was called simply the World War or the Great War, and thereafter the First World War or World War I. In America, it was initially called the European War. More than 9 million combatants were killed; a casualty rate exacerbated by the belligerents' technological and industrial sophistication, and tactical stalemate. It was one of the deadliest conflicts in history, paving the way for major political changes, including revolutions in many of the nations involved.

On television news tonight we seen Naive Young from White Cliffs marching in Melbourne he is a friend to the people of White Cliffs he is in his mid ninety

We drove into White Cliffs around 2pm from Ivanhoe the dirt road from Ivanhoe to the north (145km's of dirt) it a shocking road my speed at times was down to 10kph it is one of the oldest highways in Australia when will the government seal this road to the north.

White Cliffs has a big long weekend ANZAC Day then the White Cliffs 120yr Rodeo click here

We are in White Cliffs and I hope that I do not have Carol bug right now I don't feel so hot.

April 24th Thursday
We woke up in Deniliquin and hit the road about 7:30am driving the 130kms to Hay. We dropped of the little trailer for a week to ten days in Hay. Hooked up the big trailer it is 9m long 650kg. Chris loaded the trailer with panels we can use in White Cliffs he also loaded it with metal framing steel, we have a lot of weight on the back of the Ford Transit Van.

Chris and Sue thank you we will put your gift to good use.

The 15 panels are 7.2m x 1.2m most are 75mm wide, some of the steel is 10m long.

Tonight we are camped at Ivanhoe caravan park we plan to head off at daybreak and head the last 300km to White Cliffs.

Carol been feel a bit sick the few day, doing a lot of sleeping, so the sooner we get home the better.

April 23rd Wednesday
Tahlia turned five years old last night and we all went out for dinner at the Stump Hotel.

Good night with her family and friends.

But the big hit of the night was the...

Ice Cream Cake, yep it all ice cream.

This morning we packed the Ford Van in Wodonga and headed off to Wangaratta picking the loaded trailer up from Scott place.

We had dinner at Sue and Tim place in Wangaratta, Thank You.

Carol felt a bit off when she woke up this morning and started turning yellow in Wangaratta and got really sick in Finley of the way to Deniliquin we would normally stay in the van tonight but we swapped it for a cabin at the Deniliquin Caravan Park.

The cabin we are in tonight, loaded trailer, with timber, BBQ and doors for White Cliffs.

The plan is to visit Hay tomorrow and work out the rest of the trip from there.

Hi Dusty and Katie, more about them later.

April 22nd Tuesday
We are in Wodonga for granddaughter Tahlia 5th birthday we are out for dinner tonight and tomorrow morning we head for Wangaratta pickup the trailer from Scott place then head for Hay we may or may not get there tomorrow night as we need to do a few things in Wangaratta.

Three grand kids in the system, Joyce, Tahlia and Chase.

More tomorrow night.

April 20th Sunday (Easter Sunday)
Still in Wodonga at Damon and Carmen place they are away for Easter. They are planning on returning to Wodonga Monday afternoon.

Today we went to Wangaratta to see Faye and John and Harvey. Yes Harvey looks great in his winter with coat.

We are sure looking smart and already claimed a spot under the heater for winter.

Next stop was Scott place where we left the empty trailer last Wednesday afternoon. Today we filled it with out BBQ and timber that Scott did not want, it was left over from his old place.

He still has a heap of 3mm MDF board if you get in quick to give away but be quick it is left over from his old workshop in Wangaratta, when we moved Scott took over the house and my old workshop for his own use.

We may have to turn the heater on tonight (it is 21c in White Cliffs.)

April 19th Saturday
A very quite day we went shopping for car parts Troy is doing a few repairs on Carol car and needed some parts.

We are looking at what we can use on the floor at the underground house in White Cliffs, we looked at carpet but a bit worried about dust, maybe a timber floor then we seen a tile floor. It not easy just want to get it right first time. Comments welcome.

We are find it cold in Albury Wodonga like a lot of people we have been in the heat for so long now we are in the cool of Wodonga.

April 18th Friday (Good Friday)
We are in Albury Wodonga for Easter looking after Carmen and Damon house, dog and cat. They have headed away for the weekend camping, hi guys hope it is not raining your way.

It is a great looking building "Albury Railway Station"

Yesterday we dropped into Target and said hello to Susan then Muffy at her place.

Today we seen Kylie, Troy and Joyce at there place. We then did a quick visit to  Adrian and Dianne. A good family day.

Tonight we are watching the Royal Children Hospital Appeal on Television.

April 16th Wednesday
We made it to Albury from Deniliquin via Finley, Cobram, Yarrawonga and Wangaratta then Albury Wodonga.

We stopped of in Yarrawonga to see Graham and Teena Ford, had a nice cupper with Graham (Teena was playing golf) so we had a cupper with Graham. Then onto Wangaratta dropping the trailer off at Scott place I go to Wangaratta on Sunday and fill the trailer.

Then we seen Faye and John (and Harvey the dog) had a cup of coffee. Next stop was Wodonga where we had a cup of coffee. So what did we do today? Talk, drive and drink really great tea and coffee.

Big day in Broken Hill, the new big shopping center open for business it has heap of shops Cole's and Target we will be there in a few week and I take some pictures then. The old Cole's in South Broken Hill closed last night, it was a very old shop and needed to be replaced. It the first time Target have been in the area.

More tomorrow, good night all

April 15th Tuesday
We are in Deniliquin tonight at the caravan park it been a really big day we left White Cliffs at 7:15am coming down the 145km's of dirt road which was not the best road I have been on. Seen lots of Emu, Kangaroos and goats.

We had lunch at Ivanho then 210km to Hay where we met up with a good friend Chris Martin, He has just closed his business in Hay and taken a job in Darwin.

Chris Martin built this building at Hay called "Shear Outback"

Then on to Deniliquin 120km's south of Hay, at Deniliquin Caravan Park. We are off to Albury Wodonga tomorrow, no rush.

April 14th Monday
Just a short note today we are very busy packing the van and getting the trailer ready for our trip south to Wangaratta and Albury Wodonga. We had a really big clean up outside today and took a load to the local tip.

I try take some pictures on the way south tomorrow we hope if the road open to go via Hay over the dirt road (145km of dirt).

Well back to packing, we hope to leave tomorrow morning around first light.

April 13th Sunday
We had a big cleanup day outside all this building makes a mess and we head south Tuesday morning for Easter. One thing I did see today was green in White Cliffs when we came back from Wangaratta just over a week ago we seen brown and near dead trees from a very hot summer.

Wednesday we had 44mm of rain and today Sunday we have green trees green plants.

White Cliffs and it's green, over the hills in the distance you will find the Queensland border. Picture taken out front of our underground house. The roadway below leads to our place.

Filled a trailer today with rubbish so I do a run to the local tip tomorrow, it is a great tip that gets covered most days, and it FREE it about a 1km drive from town on a very bumpy dirt road. There is no rubbish truck here so you go to the tip about twice a week, you cannot store rubbish outside due to the kangaroos and wild goats.

Tonight we are going out to the Sporting Club here in White Cliffs.

April 12th Saturday
A nice sunny day in White Cliffs 24c, Albury, Wodonga, Wangaratta and Yarrawonga were all 24c today. We only need to get rid of one thing "The Fly's" I feel we could open an Areogard shop in town.

We had a wonderful eMail from a lady in Yarrawonga (around 85yr's old) telling how much she enjoyed reading the three dots website she read every month and it took 90mins.

Below is only part of the eMail :

You two are real Australian people getting on with life, I bet you live longer than all of use sitting down here drinking coffee doing nothing just waiting to die.
I was talking with a group of people and they say those two are going to live their life the best they can to the last second, it’s just great.
You have a great life and keep living the dream, I wish we had done it forty years ago what you and Carol are doing.

All I can say is "Thank You" what can one say.

I had a friend outside tonight below:

We call him Pooroo I gave him a drink of water an hour later after dark we had five kangaroos drinking from the water tub.

No Emu, I have always had Emu's around the house they were her when we left in December when we returned no Emu to be found. I was talking to a local lady about Emu's she told me about a book and showed it to me. A female and Male Emu pair up and she lays the eggs after a few months. Dad sit on the eggs and brings up the chicks the female leaves with in a few days of laying the eggs looking for another guy, 99% of chicks know their dad but not the mother. If you see an Emu walking around with chicks that's dad you will never see mum in the wild.

A few days ago I told you about a lot of rain and some rocks dropping on the roof of the bathroom from up the hill we found a small hole in the roof from rocks falling so today I got on the roof and fixed it (I hope).

Next I went back inside to my new doorway and started covering the wall in a cement render, did about 50% of the wall and ran out of cement.

We will pack the Ford Transit Van tomorrow and clean it up ready for a trip to Albury over Easter we will leave here on Tuesday heading south...

April 10th Thursday
Today we put the new door on the back burner for a few day, we sure had a bad night 44mm of rain and it washed a heap of rock and mud off the hill on top of the bathroom. I fixed the problem today so it cannot happen again.

Will lay some cement tomorrow and get rid of the problem. Living in a underground home has it problems at times it will take two days work to make it safe.

Jan, asked me do we get television, yes the labor government so nicely gave us a free satellite TV antenna (when they closed down the VHF network last year) and we get some one hundred plus television channels, a lot are the same.

The advertising a bit different what I  mean by that is we are watching the AFL football and we get advertising from Townsville, Broken Hill, Alice springs, Mt Isa all in the same ad break. And if they have no ad's to put to air they play music and video showing towns around Australia.

Our television is call VAST click here

One thing we do not get is radio stations, we have to listen to the ABC from Broken Hill, which is ok it is a good radio station. I have to work on a better radio in the near future.

Right now we listen to radio via the internet.

Will do some cement work in the morning and repair the bathroom roof.

April 9th Wednesday
I been working on my new doorway, and I like to report the door up and it opens and closes, I know very little about doors. Putting a door in a underground home not easy.

First you need to widen the old hallway dig away rock then fit the metal door frame get it level.

I still have some work to do like render all the rockwork with a cement render then paint it with plaster and high gloss white paint. Lay tiles on the floor give a really big clean up.

Fit a door handle and that's about it, the rock work a really slow job. You get up about two feet then let the cement dry for a few hours, then do some more rock work.

We will be in Albury Wodonga over Easter picking up a load from Scott's place, I buy some cement render, plaster and paint. A doorknob and tiles and tile glue.

Television, I have been asked do we have TV, yes I write it up tomorrow.

April 7th Monday
I was not going to put anything on three dots tonight, I spent today rocking up my new doorway in the hallway.

I read the text below and was thinking that sounds like a good idea.

We all carry our mobile phones with names & numbers stored in its memory. If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people attending us would have our mobile phone but wouldn't know who to call. Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact person in case of an emergency?

Hence this 'ICE'  (In Case of Emergency) Campaign.

The concept of 'ICE' is catching on quickly. It is a method of contact during emergency situations. As mobile phones are carried by the majority of the population, all you need to do is store the number of a contact person or persons who should be contacted during emergency under the name 'ICE' ( In Case Of Emergency).

The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when he went to the scenes of accidents there were always mobile phones with patients but they didn't know which number to call.

He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognized name for this purpose.
In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital staff would be able to quickly contact the right person by simply dialing the number you have stored as 'ICE'.

To find out more CLICK HERE.

I have added ICE to my phone

April 6th Sunday
Worked on the new door way for a few hours today then cleaned up a bit outside. Watch the V8 Supercar race from Winton.

Tonight we went our for a meal at the White Cliffs Sports Club it was a really good night they are a nice lot of people.

This about 25% of the people at the club tonight.

The Sports Club is have a rebuild they have removed the old bar and about to install a new one there would have been fifty people there tonight.

Only a short update tonight as it is 8:45pm...

April 5th Saturday
The day did not turn out as planned, when we started unpacking the trailer it was super wet from a very wet trip thursday and friday, Wangaratta to White Cliffs.

We spent all day unpack some very wet boxes one by one putting the contents on the cement slab out front in the sun to dry. The good thing was a blue sky today and a very hot sun.

What did we loose, manly photo albums most of the family pictures are ok, but the albums have water damage and need to be replaced.

Tomorrow we will sort out the mess we have outside and clean the area up.

I made a loaf of fresh bread in the bread maker, nothing like really fresh bread.

We need to pickup a load from Scott place in Wangaratta, so we will travel down and look after Carmen and Damon house and dog in Wodonga over Easter they are going away. Load up at Scott place and come home, (hope it not raining).

There is a movie night at the White Cliffs hotel to night, drinks pop corn a full on movie night. All money made is to the White Cliffs School.

Tomorrow night we have a roast dinner at the White Cliffs Sports Club all welcome, all money to the sports club.

Last night was dinner at the White Cliffs General Store.

We are going for a walk to get fit and hope we loose some weight.

April 4th Friday
Back in White Cliffs, today we drove from Cobar to home 353km's we had a very heavy trailer on the back I worked out we used 10.1LPH

We unpacked the Ford Transit Van today and will start on the trailer tomorrow morning. White Cliffs had 3mm of rain while we were away, that may not sound much but it a lot more than we had the first three months of this year.

Tomorrow I get back to installing the new doorway I started on it a week before we went away to Albury Wodonga and Wangaratta.

Tonight a night of rest I have driven just over a 1000kms in two days, not bad for this old man.

Just missed the fruit and veg order this week by a few hours not a big problem we can buy it at the local general store. How it works you place your order at the shop by 12:30pm Friday. The fruit and veg man buys it at the Adelaide market Wednesday morning and the truck rolls into White Cliffs about 5pm Wednesday they are about the same price as Broken Hill but are fresh and taste great.

Had three Kangaroo's on top of the underground home today when we came home I went up top to turn the water on and they hopped away up the hill. Filled up the water dish tonight so they can have a drink tonight.

We have town mains water here, that I turn off if we go away, if you have a underground home the last thing you need is a broken pipe and turning your home into a swimming pool.

I try get some pictures over the weekend.

April 3rd Thursday
Up at 6:30am at Faye and Johns place in Wangaratta we hit the road at 7:45am it was raining heavy just out of Wangaratta and it rained all the way to Griffith most of today trip was at a slow 75 to 80kph.

By the time we got to Hillston north of Griffith's on the Kidman Way the rain stopped, the next section was Hillston to Cobar 360kms we decided to go all the way to Cobar. We drove into Cobar at 5:20pm tonight a really big day and a big drive.

We are staying at the Cobar Caravan Park, it the only park in town $35 night and it a bit of a dump. The town ok I don't mind Cobar the town.

Main Street of Cobar, has two supermarkets.

Buy some meat in the morning then home to White Cliffs about 350km's

April 2nd Wednesday
We are still in Wangaratta tonight and head north tomorrow towards White Cliffs. We filled the trailer and part of the van with the last of what we had at Faye and John's place in Wangaratta that empty now. Next place to empty out is Scott's place we will be back at Easter and do that.

Kylie sent me a picture of Joyce hard at work in Thurgoona.

We are at Faye and John place tonight in Wangaratta the last we were here you may remember they had just got a new dog Harvey.

Harvey today he a really good dog.

We will pull up somewhere tomorrow night, if I have Internet I will update the three dots website.

Looks like we may have some rain on the way home.

April 1st Tuesday

Had a new windscreen installed in the Ford Transit today
I have to clean the rest of the van now to match the new windscreen.

Read this and send it on, it not spam it for the good of Australia.

This is a much bigger problem than most of us realize.

BUY BIRDSEYE AND EDGELL
Now this scares me:
Think about this:-
The ONLY Australian manufacturer of frozen Australian grown vegetables (Simplot Australia) is not far from closing because a number of the other well-known Australian brands have moved their plants to New Zealand in order to capture the Chinese vegetable market where they market via New Zealand to Australian tables (without the food being labeled specifically as Chinese) and Simplot is finding it hard to compete.  This was shown on the program Landline on the ABC...

SHOULD SIMPLOT CLOSE, THIS MEANS THAT NO AUSTRALIAN GROWN FROZEN VEGETABLES WILL BE AVAILABLE AT ALL AND WE WILL BE RELYING ON FOOD GROWN TOTALLY OUTSIDE OF AUSTRALIA .  For a number of reasons this is not a good situation.

1. As most people know, other countries do not necessarily have the strict guidelines for growing their vegetables that Australia has and by buying Australian we can be sure that lethal chemicals that may be used in other countries will not be used on Australian vegetables.
2. We would be keeping Australians in jobs.
3. If ever the world became unstable regarding wartime we would not be able to feed ourselves

It is imperative that we all support these Australian brands selling good Australian vegetable products (via Simplot).
Birdseye
Edgell

Next time you shop, please think about the future of Australian food.

What do you reckon folks? Let’s buy Birdseye and Edgell.

Some of us love our designer labels.  We buy premium brand shoes, premium brand clothing and well known premium perfumes and handbags.
BUT ... we also look buy the cheapest food we can for our children to eat.  That doesn't make sense.
This is so true, the farmers in Tasmania are extremely worried about Simplot's impending closure.
They also have a lone plant in Bathurst subjected to the same uncertainty.
If these last remaining plants close, it means that China then has total control over our fresh/frozen vegie industry.
Particularly disturbing to see that Chinese Grown vegetables are coming in branded as a product of New Zealand .

Do not buy any New Zealand products till the New Zealand government fixes the problem. We use to trust New Zealand not any more, and the Australian Government doing nothing but selling off Australia and is working towards shutting down Australia.
Ford and Holden are leaving Australia having taken millions from the Australian Government the truth is we own Ford and Holden. Leave Australia, go, but by law (that government needs to put in place) you leave a working business behind that can be run by the Australian Government then sold to the Australian People.
The Government should take control of Australia for the good of Australia. We can build a car in Australia.
We can do more for Australia we need a leader a business leader in Australia.
The government is talking about taking from every Australian just to make the numbers look good. The government should be building Australia not pulling it apart. For God sake government sit down with unions and built a better Australia. Rex

We are in Wangaratta staying at Faye and John place for two nights.

Don't forget to look at last month it in the left frame.
