August 31st Monday
As I say every month, the last day on the month, Spring is here tomorrow and it may happen "The Great Garden" it may happen this year. (that is where the outback turns into a flower garden.)

Today started at about 4am this morning some 28 feet above our bedroom we have the top of our air shaft it has a tin roof. A kangaroo started jumping around on top of the metal roof gee it made a lot of noise we woke up not knowing what was going on what a noise.

First job today was walk up top on the roof and check out the air shaft, all good apart from roo poo on the air shaft that I swept off with a broom. I need to do some work up there one day that air shaft top been there for 20yr's.

Sunset tonight was just a very bright orange sky, I was told tonight it's a reflection off the gold just over the hill, that like a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

This a wild flower that came out today for the first time this year.

Karen in Queensland took the picture below it is a top picture thank you.

How good that, I have to ask what camera did you use to take such a great picture, love it.

The back a lot better not perfect but I did fit the new fan belt to the Proton that not a easy job it took me about an hour and half to work it out. So far so good no noise at all a nice quite running motor.

It was then back in the new kitchen and working on the final fit out, it may take a week. We are looking forward to painting maybe next week. We lost four days last week with the bad back.

Karen thanks for the picture and hello to Marg and Bill in Queensland.

Sue in Gippsland you letter came today thank you.

August 30th Sunday
A very sleepy day in White Cliffs a blue sky not a cloud to be seen we had a great day out with the locals today we always end up somewhere it was a good size group today 16 people for coffee at the Red Earth Cafe.

I have been asked to add a section to the White Cliffs website today a "For Sale" section for people wishing to sell their Underground Homes as well as anything else. Have to think about it, is there any reason why I should not do it?.

My Geelong football team had a bad day so that about it for them this year.

Bill a friend of mine went for a walk around town and found a few old time treasurers we think it reads Sterilizing Outfit for water bottle, silver spoon and some watch parts.

I also found out where the first homes in White Cliffs were today out on the mining area I going to take my metal detector out there and have a walk around you never know what you will find.

Back home I washed the Mercedes Benz after all the rain last week it was a big mess, all good now.

We are going out for tea tonight at the Sporting Club it should be a good night. They have put the price up from $10 to $15 a head and a promise a better meals, I was happy before so we will have to wait and see tonight.

Troy gave Kylie a nice plant, Kylie try not to kill this one.

Hello David and Sue back home in Gippsland from Queensland, Have a good week hope it fines up to mow the lawns.

Back to work tomorrow the back feeling a lot better today after four days rest.

August 29th Saturday
A cool day at home in White Cliffs today we had 18c for a short time, most of the day a lot of cloud cover and around 15c and feels like 10c.

Went out for coffee today and that was the day what I mean by that we all sat and talked for three and half hours. Tomorrow we are going to the Red Earth Cafe for coffee and another chat, well we have to solve all the problem in the World.

There are a lot of people in town this weekend for some reason there is a bit on around town but nothing real big. White Cliffs has around 50,000 visitors each year they all come to see nothing as we all say. They stay in the caravan park, the hotel motel, the underground motel a lot of people stay in the private homes as well.

What happen when you come from the US to Australia and visit all the underground homes in White Cliffs. You go back home and dig a hole in the back yard in the USA then you send your picture to Australia.

As they said that's all we done so far but are going to do a lot more.

Love to see more pictures in say a years time but it is looking great and I love the tree underground. Have a think about this underground homes use 10% of green house gases that a normal use's we have been around 21c inside all winter with no heating or cooling. We have not spent 1c on heating the home this winter most water used in town is rain water.

I know not everyone wants to sleep under 80,000 tons of rock but that's life here.

This home is in White Cliffs and you are 9m underground, you can build an underground home anywhere it is called cement, that's all you need.

You have all seen the bedroom that was built here where Susan stayed it cost a lot of hard work and around $2500 to build, try build a bedroom that size for that above ground.

The room in the top picture cost five bags of cement and a lot of hard work, they have used a lot of mud clay. That something we do not do but we all noted that today, we use a lot more cement and paint they used no paint???.

Oversea's they have built homes underground for years.

In the last 13wk's (3 months) we spend $125 on LP Gas, $112.00 on power $32 on town water let me know what you spend.

Have a good weekend and Hello to Lauren who just had a birthday.

August 28th Friday
An easy day in White Cliffs, my back a lot better and walking around today quite well, hoping I can do some work tomorrow.

I have a million White Cedar seeds outside so I sat down and read how to plant the seeds after two years trying I did it by the book today, we just have to wait and see. Why a cedar tree they live in the hot weather without water the kangaroos do not eat them.

Talking about heat we had a very warm sun today it was cool 18c in the shade but quite hot in the sun.

Taken at around 12:30pm today in the sun 28c hot enough for a sun tan I am told. The sun getting hotter as the year goes on.

Looking north east this afternoon it's green the outback had a lot of rain this year and it is turning green if we get one more drop of rain this will turn into the biggest flower garden in the world. I have only seen the flowers once before about ten years ago.

If this keeps up we will need to fix the old lawn mower.

Joyce I hope you are feeling better.

We updated the White Cliffs website today, Click_Here look at Randel Dates for a list of what going on in town, there is a heap on this week.

My Geelong plays tonight, just have to wait and see how they go.

Three Dots is heading for the magic number 10,000 hits in the next week or so, that a landmark for a website.

Well have a good weekend. Hope you get some sun.

August 27th Thursday
Well I fell apart big time today, yesterday I hurt my back somehow all I did was bend over to pickup a broom and had a sharp pain in the back. After a bad night sleep I went and visited the local hospital for some pain killer. No work today just too sore in the back.

We did plant two trees in the ground as below.

A White Cedar tree and a Jacaranda tree my shade tree to sit under in ten years.

Here a tree I replanted last week it doing well, do not know what type it is.

No Joyce, I have not washed the car yet. Maybe at the weekend, being told what to do by a 4yr old.

It pays to plant a tree up here we hit a pocket of Opal Stone one good size, good colour we did we the one good stone we dug up may make $60 cut and mounted, to tell the truth Carol found the good one.
We dug a whole bedroom and found nothing much, then we find it planting a tree.

There is a old story here a local Opal miner was digging down for Opal and found some he dug a shaft to the south looking for more. Then it happen he dug a hole into his own toilet pit 20ft underground, O' dear he was a real mess and no matter how hard he tried he could not wash of the smell.

NBN Wireless a maybe in White Cliffs
The first of two new satellites being launched into space on October 1 as part of the National Broadband Network (NBN) will deliver "plenty of bandwidth" to customers in rural and remote parts of the country, according to Federal Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull.

He was responding to scepticism from outback Queensland residents who currently access the internet via the congested Interim Satellite Service (ISS), which struggles to support video conferencing technology used for health check-ups and distance education.

From Doug in Queensland

Hi Rex, You wanted some train pics, well it seems that we had a photographer from the local paper at the track for our public train rides day Sunday.

Scroll down, then click on the first pic, & scroll through the dozen or so pics & the video. All good!

We did about 800 rides in total yesterday with 1 steamer & 6 electric/diesel trains. (Not me driving my train in the pics!) (David & his son Ben driving ‘Heinzie’).

‘Heinzie’ originally came from Yanco, via Griffith with Ian Fulton, our late President, hence the ‘Y.M.R.’ on the tender. It is now owned by our club.

We’ve done a couple of days of train rides for the local Special Schools in the last few weeks. About 250 students in total. Will send you some of my pics when I get around to transferring them from my phone in a few days.

Doug thanks for your input tonight makes it easy at my end and good reading for user's.

Have a good time up North.

August 24th Monday
Not a great day weather wise in White Cliffs bit of light rain around all day. The plants are loving it and so are the weeds.

I worked all day in the kitchen most of the time in the pantry.

Not a great picture, I am back working on the pantry. I be back here tomorrow and Wednesday.

I now have some timber to work with after our trip to Broken Hill last week I am going to give that kitchen a big hit over the next seven days. Just needed timber to work with.

After work today I walked up top and looked around at the ground above the underground after all the rain. It looking good up there we had no water inside the underground this time.

This picture was taken from above the house looking down on the new kitchen, sorry Joyce I have no cleaned the car yet. Joyce seen the Mercedes Benz on three dots last night and rang me to say it needing a wash.

Looking towards town from up top of the house.

Up top looking up the hill my favorite tree in the next few months it will turn silver. A heap of rock up here.

The power of water running down the hill, that is about 1m wide and 300m deep. This happen on the west side of our land and is not a problem in fact we can divert water off the hill into this new self made creek. I am told I have to give the new creek a name?.

Hello to Joi and Peter in Melbourne, I was told you made a visit to Albury Wodonga.

They say 17c and Sunny in White Cliffs tomorrow and fine for the rest of the week topping out with 21c on Saturday next.

August 23rd Sunday
What happen, no sun and no blue sky just rain and more rain, we have had 19mm in 24hr's at our place and it still raining as I write three dots tonight. It feels cool in the underground tonight 21c, down two on normal.

For coffee today we all went to the Underground Motel it a nice place to sit and chat with local people.

The motel is packed every night over winter some 50,000 people visit White Cliffs every year and a lot stay here. There are around 30 rooms in the motel.

A picture taken in a hallway of the Underground Motel it is near 5 star rating and very clean.

Outside the rain came down in bucket it was really heavy.

This picture tells the story of the day, the Mercedes locked itself in 4wd a few times on the hills I was only doing 15kph at the time.

Looking east from home today around 4:30pm the rain starting to clear (I think).

Susan, remember all that work we did to divert water above the home it worked a dream we never had a drop of water inside (that the first time in a long time) we did a really good job the water ran across the top as we planned.

Did anyone have trouble with the video last night if you had trouble please let me know. And thank you for all the comments that you want more video's.

The plan was to work in the new kitchen today but that was a wash out as they say just to much mud.

This is great for spring flowers and weeds, a section outside I cleaned up in May this year turned to weed in one day, have to get the weed killer out again.

My Geelong had a draw last night, and Faye and John in Wangaratta would be happy with the North Melbourne win today.

Think it will fine up overnight.

August 22nd Saturday Happy Birthday Muffy
Well Muffy 21yr's old again I am not saying any more about her 21st for the fifty time.

I have a video taken by the lady of the house on the way home tomorrow we will let you look at it first (size 15meg) click here it good fun. Click Here.

The rest of the day was all work doing a bit of cement render fixing and holes in wall we told 5 to 10mm of rain in the next 24hrs so I went around and fix what had to be fixed. I was trying to seal up every little hole.

Adrian and Dianne are back home in Albury Wodonga after a overseas trip. Send us a picture for three dots.

have a look at the White Cliffs website we did a lot of work on that site overnight, could not sleep so I got up and did some work on the site. Click_Here.

We are going out for coffee in the morning at the cafe then in the afternoon I get back in to working on the kitchen, I am going to finish that kitchen this year.

Hello John and Glenda in Gippsland.

August 21st Friday
We were up at 6:30am New South Wales time that is 6am in Broken Hill at the supermarket by 7am and did the rest of the shopping at Cole's. Had a cupper before heading to White Cliffs loaded with food and timber.

We sat on 90kph all the way home a lot of wind and quite warm 32c in the sun on the road and 27c in the shade at home. It looked like rain all day but not a drop. Covered the trailer with a tarp for tonight, we unloaded and put away the food.

An easy drive home we took the long way home on sealed roads to save the car and trailer it is 30km's longer but a sealed road all the way to White Cliffs.

Bravenet in the USA is where I host the three dots website, when you look at three dots you are seeing it in the US. In the first column you will see "View Site Stats" click on it. Click "Visitors" now click "Countries" scroll down and we think that only people in Australia read three dots I was shocked to read this.

You can do this at any time, it has no value and we have it free for a year from then on we have to pay, (I think about it when the times comes). It started today and is based on records they have on file.

They do not record any of your private details. (I have used Bravenet in the US for 13yrs without a problem.

Today was all about coming home. I do some pictures tomorrow.

Most Friday night's I have trouble with the Internet in White Cliffs, guess it an overload.

August 20th Thursday
We went to may places today shopping and getting things done while in town I am not going to bore you with a long list, I have a new fan belt for the Proton, timber for the kitchen.

We head home tomorrow morning after shopping for frozen food, been a good trip a really good trip.

Late today we went to Bell's Milk Bar, build in the 1950, it is the same today as the day it open 60yr's ago.

No visit to Broken Hill is complete without a trip to Bells I been here a while back.

Bells Milk Bar!

Bells is a Broken Hill icon where you can explore our fascinating social history and experience a rare insight into Australia’s unique milk bar and cafe culture. The original 1950’s decor, old style malted milks and soda spiders along with the attached milk bar museum and nostalgic gift shop has seen Bells recognised with multiple tourism awards and people often travel hundreds of miles just to get their hands on a Bells drink.

You can have a similar experience at Bells today as you could have in the 1950s or 1960s. Imagine sipping a malted milk or traditional soda spider amidst the original chrome fittings and furniture while listening to the ‘latest’ 1950s music or reading a 1956 magazine.  You can choose from over 50 original recipe flavors, and they’re all made using Bells own handmade syrups and cordials, manufactured to Les Bell’s Famous Secret Recipe in small batches right here on the premises, just like they always have. The result is an ‘Out of This World’ taste of Broken Hill and local Australian history.

You can have a similar experience at Bells today as you could have in the 1950s or 1960s

After your indulgence, check out the Milk Bar Museum where you can learn all about the fascinating world of Australia’s milk bars and cafes and gain a valuable insight into a part of our 20th century social history that has all but disappeared. There is a range of original Bells and other milk bar memorabilia and photos to browse.

There’s also some necessary modern conveniences like organic single origin espresso coffee and a range of herbal teas. Customer facilities such as free wireless Internet, customer toilets means that you can hang around a while and soak up the atmosphere.

The Bells website is meant to be a fun place to visit, just like the real shop, so have a play and spend some time at Bells online. Check out the links below for further information or browse the site for lots more info about Bells…

A 1950s Lime Spider, we had a small one. They cost 6p in 1955 $7 today.

It's old all 1950s

Side wall inside the shop, chairs and tables all 1950s

Bells have a website Click_Here

We ran into a number of people from White Cliffs today there is always someone here in town.

After a quick shop tomorrow we head home to White Cliffs and our own bed.

Hello to Tony and Belinda today from White Cliffs enjoy Broken Hill.

August 19th Wednesday
Well we are in Broken Hill in a cabin at the caravan park for tonight and tomorrow night.

Had a good drive into Broken Hill 300km's.

I went to Target and returned a tablet computer I brought it at Target Wodonga a month ago, it was sold as a Windows 8.1 system when I went to use it I found it was a cut down version of Windows a lot of things were missing. So today I returned it for a refund had no trouble.

Went to Cheap as Chips for a look found a new computer mouse for $12 and a card reader $8 they work well tonight. Don't mind Cheap as Chips they started in Tasmania in 2003.

Next stop was the Telstra Shop Broken Hill, Carol now has a new phone.

Today was all about shopping in town, getting what we need for home.

One thing I like about Broken Hill is the great buildings

The Internet not good here I only have one bar on the wireless 4G they tell me Broken Hill getting NBN soon they sure need it.

I take picture while around to tomorrow.

Have fun

August 18th Tuesday
A fantastic day in town today blue sky and 22c here at home in the shade. We found a problem with sleeping in a underground, it's dark all the time unless you turn the light on in the bedroom.

We were both asleep and forgot to wake up till late, glad we had nowhere to go. Tomorrow I better set the alarm as we are off to Broken Hill we need food and timber.

Today was all about the little garden it started as outback salt bush and took three day to turn into a outback garden.

I started with this on sunday morning and worked on for three days.

I gave up around 4pm today and it looked like this.

We now a nice place to sit and look over the town, and now I have to see what I can do about the other side. What I need is a bobcat it would do the job in 20min's I did all this by hand.

I did see something today an Eagle came out of the sky and picked up a rabbit taking it up in the sky about 300ft then dropped it. It hit the ground the Eagle picked it up in about five seconds and flew away to the west and out of sight. That a first time I have seen that, a person who lives about 1km away told me they lost a small dog to an Eagle.

A show is coming to White Cliffs (have you heard of it?)

--------------------

STONES IN HIS POCKETS
by Marie Jones

Having played all over the world including a five year run in the West End, the multi award winning comedy by Marie Jones Stones In His Pockets is now coming to you in a new production.

Don’t miss this award winning hilarious and moving tale of a quiet Irish community turned upside down by the arrival of a Hollywood movie shoot. The film's story of a budding romance between a rich girl and a local farmer, is counter pointed against the growing friction that develops between the locals hired as extras on the film and the Hollywood big shots.

Directed by Chris Bendall (The Magic Hour), and featuring Sean Hawkins (Sydney Theatre Award Winner), and Grant Cartwright (Green Room Award winner).

It a new one on me but they say it ran in the West End (of London I guess) should I go? maybe yes then maybe no. If your into this type of show let me know rexdun@outlook.com

Thank for the feedback seems I am the only person who could not play the Video files that I put on the other night, they work on my computer but not on my smart phone, it not so smart.

Off tomorrow to Broken Hill shopping, 300kms then stop for two nights then 300km's back home on Friday.

So tomorrow night 3Dots from downtown Broken Hill.

Had a email from Dianne all good she said.

Hello Doug in Queensland, send me some train pictures.

August 17th Monday
What a great day here in White Cliffs blue sky and 21c the perfect day, not a great work day I need timber, we go into Broken Hill on Wednesday so the first job was clean the Mercedes Benz inside and out it looking good.

I then went back to weeding the front garden we have a lot of weeds that we need to get rid of but not as bad as last year. I am spraying a lot of the weeds this year. I get some more weed killer in Broken Hill.

Here is the fish story for you.
(Kylie sent me this as a add on to yesterday story it worth reading:)
Joyce was playing at the fence near the lagoon, when I heard her scream, I looked across and a fish (carp, we presume) had jumped out of the water and landed at her feet. The fish was probably around 30cm long. It seems while most people need a fishing rod to catch fish, Joyce just stands there and they jump to her feet.

Did a trip to the tip today after driving around the old lady's and loading the trailer up on the way, the council has a big loader cleaning up the rubbish tip today.

I need a bigger shed as I finish things in the new kitchen we clean up and I am filling up the little tip shed real fast.

My Nokia 1320 Computer Phone came back from repair today, I like my 6" screen it really easy to read. I sent it away because it stopped charging the battery. It's back and working better than ever, the screen brighter and it is faster than before.

It is a big phone or a small tablet computer it run Window 8.1 which is very good on the phone. Microsoft now own Nokia Phone's the old phone running great.

I check the car out tomorrow oil, water and the rest that we need to check so we can leave early Wednesday morning.

After what Bill in Queensland said I get a new fan belt for the Proton and hope that helps fix the noise problem.

Hello John and Faye in Wangaratta.

August 16th Sunday
We went for Sunday tea and coffee we do that every Sunday I then weeded the yard out front of the house to 5pm the weather was just perfect today nice and warm in the sun.

The rest of three dots today comes from Albury Wodonga and Kylie and Joyce they email me tonight with what the did today

Joyce and I walked around Horseshoe Lagoon, we did the 1km River walk and then walked the rest of the way around on the path that is yet to be incorporated.

Along the way we saw a couple of Aboriginal Sculptures that were made by Aboriginal artists. One was a fish trap sculpture the other about the Bogong Moth migration.

There is a paved path to follow so the walk is suitable for bikes and people to follow. The entire walk is 5.5km from Wonga Wetlands to Kremur Street boat ramp featuring 12 sculptures along the way.

Map sent to by Kylie and Joyce who walked around Horseshoe Lagoon today.

What they found on the walk.

Do we know this little girl, Joyce at Horseshoe Lagoon today.

If you wish to read more Click_Here for more.

Thank you Kylie and Joyce for that.

I only had three feed back on the Video file last night did it work or not please let me know please, thanks Glenda, Kylie and Scott. Please let me know (it did not work on my Windows-8.1 phone for the record they are AVI movie files.

We are going to Broken Hill Wednesday, Thursday and back home Friday. Need some timber to work on the kitchen, and food wonderful food.

Will look at the weather tomorrow and decide what to do may work in the garden it has to be done.

Hello Troy, Kylie and Joyce (are you sure that girls 4yr's old)

August 14th Friday
A nice day in town today, Carol went to craft, I worked on the Proton fan belt noise the only thing that we have here if WD40 so I gave it a go, it did stop the noise for about an hour.
Pulled the adjustment pulley off and gave it a good clean. It something to do with the belt, I did have some belt grip but made the noise worse.

I look around when in Broken Hill next week.

Went to the Social Media class in town today, they had two hours I feel they just tried to do to much in the time they had. They were trying to do the right thing but it just never happen for the people in the class. Anyway that what I think and I got what I paid for, it was a free class.

August 13th Thursday
It was a hard 24hr's in White Cliffs the town fed 351 people from the South Australian Variety Club Car Rally I ended up washing up last night till 11:30pm then at 5am this morning we were back doing it again for breakfast. The town did a great job, we had around 30 workers last night and this morning it ran like clockwork.

A small part of the large in the White Cliffs Hall

Same group as the last picture.

Vicki and I doing the washing up this morning around 6am.

One of the crews, I have nothing to add nothing at all. They are eating Bacon and Eggs.

Today is a special day so my daughter Kylie tells me, It is Left Handers Day around the World. I am a left hander, Kylie is a left hander.
At school I was made to use my right hand to write and it messed up my whole school life I could not read my own writing in year six a teacher by the name Arthur Van den berg (many of you would have knowen him in Albury) said use your left hand to write my grades double and that a true story. But by then it was two late, the school system messed me up the first part of my school life. A teacher in grade 4 totally lost it over me using my left hand and hit me with a pencil, the lead broke in my leg and is still there today. Click Here

If you have and stories about being a left hander please send it to me, for others to read.

Thank you to the people who told me about fixing the noise in the fan belt on the Proton, using Inox from Bunning's, Dish washing liquid, WD40 (a number of times), Wax stick, Belt Grip.

Hello to Kylie, Troy tonight I like being a left hander.

Tomorrow I have a computer class all about social media, it a free class run for people in the outback.

August 12th Wednesday
Today all about the town and the South Australian Variety Club Car Rally I am working tonight and it may be a late night so we took some picture's today around town.

The White Cliffs caravan park is full tonight I have never see this many people before.

The only petrol pump in town is flat out pumping gas into the old car, my guess is it will run out sometime tonight.

Outside the White Cliffs Hotel it old and a long way off the road a great car for the outback.

An old Holden well set up for out here.

The pub doing well tonight it full inside and this is the over flow outside.

I let you work this out they yelled out we are having a wedding, this was taken at the Underground Motel.

Well time to go and feed them I am on table clean up, that a good job to have, easy no pressure.

August 11th Tuesday
The perfect day here at home 20c blue sky but they saying tomorrow it may rain (but less than 1mm) and we are looking at high winds.

Worked all day in the kitchen it getting there just seems to be a never ending job, I took a few pictures below late today.

East end south side of the peak roof section in the kitchen.

Same area but the north side. Just a little bit then it is ready to paint.

The panel door will lead to the underground. the section I am working on today is the large panty it will have two doors and a heap of space I have a few more days working on the panty, timber a problem you will a upright with a G-clamp I had to join to bits of timber to get the length I required. We will head into Broken Hill a week tomorrow and get what we need.

Carol went to Art today with the local ladies I really like some of her art, next year's art festival is going to have a section for local ladies.

Question time the Proton fan belt making a lot of noise I tried soap it worked for a day, all comments welcome.

Tomorrow night the South Australian Variety Club Car Rally is in town and we are feeding 250 people at the hall tomorrow night. All money will go to the Royal Children Hospital Adelaide. So we are going along to do our bit, I have a good job cleaning tables Carol helping in the kitchen.

So tomorrow night we maybe a bit late with 3Dots, I start at 6:30pm tomorrow night most of the people in town are helping out on the night.

Hope I can take some pictures of the night.

Hello Susan hear your not feeling to good. Lot of the work you see in tonight pictures, Susan helped with while she was here.

August 10th Monday
Back working in the kitchen today starting to run out of timber may have to make a trip into Broken Hill soon for timber and a few other thinks, just have to work it out in the next few day I could start putting on the undercoat paint. Before that I do some work on the panty doors and go from there.

Had a look at the caravan today for the first time in a long time should not take much to get it ready this year. We are planning to leave later this year as I want to get as much as I can done on the kitchen I like to get it finished so when we come back from summer break next year it be ready to use. I feel that it can be done if I keep at it.

Scott sent me back my phone/camera today from Wangaratta wonder how long it will take.

Also looked around for somewhere to build a carport for Carol car I need some posts I have some metal to build a roof and lay a cement floor. Good spare time job it may happen before Christmas just not sure.

Remember that walk I did yesterday well I need to do it more often the bottom of my feet were num this morning.

I go back to computer school on Friday afternoon with a group on locals on how to use social media, that one thing I never been into that much. I go along and have a listen.

Tomorrow it back in the kitchen.

Hello Joyce in Thurgoona.

August 9th Sunday
Scott did a great job last night he finished in the top 16 last night read the Stop Press notes at the bottom of today notes.

I was up this morning working in the kitchen I got heaps done today. Then Belinda asked me to go for walk. We have a new walking track to the south of town there is another small hill out there and Richard and his Dan from the Underground Motel when for a drive around the hill on a tractor and cut a walking path some 2km's long.

Belinda and I where taking about it the other day, the phone rang "do you want to go for a walk?", "sounds good" a half hour later off we went walking from our place over Smiths Hill to the start of the track.

This is taken at the start of the walk looking south across from the motel. Then next picture is taken from the top of the track you see here.

An old tree looking east, maybe Carol can use it in the art she likes old trees, we are near the top of the hill.

This is the back of Smiths Hill it is like seeing the back of the moon I have never seen this view before. We are looking north, on top of the hill you see two water tanks we live below them on the other side looking over the town of White Cliffs you then head west down the hill from here.

Richard and Dan you did a lot of work on the track and it looking great, a job well done.

From here we walked home back over the top of Smiths Hill I need to find some better shoes but I will do the walk again and I feel each time you will see something new. It should be a good walk end of September in the Spring.

Stop Press (number 2)
Scott sent me a text at 4am, he played the top 16 and lost so it game over like 1000s of other's he now sits on the side and watch the rest play it out. Top 16 what a super job.

Stop Press (number 1)
If you read about Scott August 7th he was in the top 32 World wide in the EVE online Game well he played tonight and won he is now in the top 16 left in the World, unreal.

Brenda thanks for the phone call today, and Rhonda thanks for the pictures and text messages. And I better put thank you Kylie for the call, if I don't she get upset at me.

It was a good day in White Cliffs 17c a very blue sky and we are looking at 20c here tomorrow.

August 8th Saturday
Not a bad day in White Cliffs around 16c but a lot cloud around all day tomorrow is looking better with about 19 to 20c blue sky they say.

Went for coffee this morning with a large group of people and the two local ladies from the hospital, we had a good chat for about hour and half.

At 12noon the butcher came with our meat order for the month, it is really nice meat we packed it in bags and put it in the freezer we did not get as much this month we still have a bit left over from last month.

We are going in to Broken Hill on the 19th and the 20th August to have a eye check up, buy some timber for the new kitchen this should finish it off (I hope). We will need some food and LP gas for the hot water service. We have taken a deal at the caravan park two night for one it will not be such a rush.

One thing I did buy on ebay about a month ago is sensor lights.

We installed it when Susan was here they work really well it cost about $19 on ebay it is a 10watt white light when you walk outside it turns on and puts out a really good light. It was a matter of get one and try, works great real happy with it $19 if the 10w LED goes out you buy a whole new light at that price. We are going to get more of them.

Broke a bit of plastic around the driver seat on the Mercedes Benz not sure why I was getting out of the car at the coffee shop and the black plastic trim broke. So this afternoon I pulled it off and fixed it with Super Glue that all I had for plastic, remember it a 600km return trip to the shop. It is all fix and fitted back in place. I think a screw fell out and when I got out of the car it broke. All fixed now.

Apart from that I watch the football on television.

Scott has my phone back and fixed, he will send it up by post next week.

Sue (Gippsland Sue) thank you for the phone call today, a good old phone call a lot better than an text message.

Have a good weekend.

August 7th Friday
The weekend is here and I hope it warms up we only had a 15c today and no blue sky I worked in the kitchen most of the day that's when I was not on the phone, more on that later.

I notice Kylie, Scott and Susan have all moved to Microsoft Windows 10, I await comments from them about how good or bad it is.

Talking about Scott the Big Play Off using Eve a top computer game that has been around for a number of years is on. The Eve play off has been going on for a number of weeks, Eve players play the game online with people from all over the World it is played one on one and if you have a loss you're out of the game. 50,000 players start so after round one you have 25,000 winners left then they play round two and so on.
Scott plays this weekend and is one of 32 plays left in the game, and only one of two Australian's left in the game.
They call it play money but betting has Scott at $2.48 and the person he is playing $1.22 to win.
Scott you're not out of the game till the game over, remember it is a game and to make the top 32 in the World is fantastic, go for the top 16, top 8, 4, 2 then it's game on. Having a win or a loss a great effort. Click Here How big is the Eve game in the World Click Here a google search on the game gives you 48.5 million answer's it a big business.

It has been an odd day the nurse's at the White Cliffs hospital had three call out's in the past five days, this is a lot ( A fly out is when a person is so sick they call in the Royal Flying Doctor Service RFDS who fly the person to Adelaide or Broken Hill for treatment.) the two nurses here are on call 24hr's a day 7days week, they also run the hospital 9am to 5:30pm five days a week.
Last night the flying doctor went over our place at 3:01am then the ladies go back and clean up before going home at 4:30am for a sleep they are back at the hospital at 9am if you did this for three nights in five how would you feel.

So I made a comment on the White Cliffs website about how hard they work, people were telling me how they like the comments Click Here if you feel like adding a comment then sent it to me at rexdun@outlook.com when two people put in such a big effort to help others, the World should thank them.

Tomorrow a group of us are all going for a coffee with two nurse's. They are over the moon with the comments from Mike (one of the head doctors at RFDS).

Two things RFDS read whitecliffsnsw.com and he was first to send me an email.

“In my time as an RFDS Doctor I quickly came to realise that the real unsung heroes of the bush are our remote nursing staff. We simply couldn't’t do our job without them. Their levels of care and commitment to the health of their communities is awe inspiring. So many owe their lives and level of functioning to their dedication. I am proud beyond words that they are colleagues and friends. We must look after them!”
Mike, RFDS (Royal Flying Doctor Service.)

Thanks all, RexD

August 6th Thursday
Keep this short tonight we have lost power twice tonight for maybe ten seconds at a time. Bit of a mixed up day at home Carol went out, she has her own car now when she came back I gave it a good wash and clean.

Went down town for a while the lady that runs the shop had a baby and came back to work today, so all the local women had a big chat at the shop.

I have the roof lighting box ready to lift into place tomorrow I hope.

The sun tonight was like a fireball bright orange as you can see in the picture. It's not a great picture but still worth a look.

Sue good to hear from you today, 27c in Queensland that not fair, but it be back to Gippsland soon.

Had a stupid thing happen today I went to the rubbish tip and tossed a bag in the hole, there at the bottom was a metal 45kg LP Gas bottle they burn this tip twice a week and I hate to think how big a bang that would have been.
I dropped by the council shed and told Tony who looks after the tip, "How crazy can you get dropping gas bottle in the tip, just crazy." When I left he was heading for the tip.

I keep it short tonight.

Tomorrow I be working in the kitchen.

August 5th Wednesday
It was a bit cooler in White Cliffs today we got to 15c with a blue sky, yesterday I put on the 3Dots a picture of the sun and a odd extra seems we not the only people that seen it and they are calling it a UFO to the west of White Cliffs (have a look at yesterday for the picture)...

What have we been working on we been building a lighting box that will fit over the kitchen sink in our kitchen it tool two day so far to build.

It has three down lights the rest is home built it will go above the sink at roof height.

The three lights work I get some LED low watt lights, took two days to build and it is ready to lift into place.

I am going back to computer school for a day, not sure why but I been asked.

The word confused why I am going I think to make up numbers I am not into Social Media maybe they convert me. I am happy doing 3Dots.

I have been asked about the power in the underground how do you wire an underground house, just leave that with me.

Carol went down to the club at lunch time to help out they had a farming event on there today. By the she drove POT down after almost 3yrs off the road.

Tomorrow I be back in the kitchen working we are getting there a day at a time.

Hello to the lady's in White Cliffs that read 3Dots.

August 4th Tuesday
Seen this on the ABC News Service, it just a bit of fun seems it fell off the roof of a near by McDonald's store.

The Minion came off the roof and landed on the freeway notice all the break lights on, something you don't see every day.

A picture taken today just to show all you people down south what the sun looks like, well that what it started out as but look at about the four o'clock position "what that" taken from White Cliffs today. Weather at home in the shade today 16c light cloud as you can see in the picture.

Kylie was saying how cold it was so I sent her a picture of the sun just for fun. The picture was taken with a Nokia mobile phone.

Carol went to art this afternoon and they had a big group there today.

Lease or Freehold, we have a 99yr lease on the land here we can do what we like to the year 2094 and that will not worry and of us. All outback land in Australia is lease land, today in the mail we got a letter it seems the government want's to convert it to Freehold Land you have to wonder why. They want to sell us the land and cancel the lease we would own the land outright. The cost of the land will be around $1000 plus costs $1500 for our lot 3990sqM why I have to ask.

I worked outside in the kitchen today I am working in the area around the window over the kitchen sink this job going to take a few days to complete a lot of timber work in this area.

Had a long chat on the phone to John in Gippsland, we had not talked for a while.

John in Wangaratta "love the pickles"

Hello Susan how was your first day back at work?.

Tomorrow I will be back in the kitchen working on the kitchen window.

August 3rd Monday
Apart from a trip to the tip, today was all about working in the new kitchen I finished one of the windows in the kitchen.

The window has all the trimmings and is completed other than paint, all the trimming is home made using MDF board.

As for the weather we had a top of 17c no rain and a blue sky we can see you are having a hard time down south, it even worse in Gippsland Warragul had a top today of 8c. I know John and Glenda are there, not sure about Sue and David they maybe still in Queensland.

In White Cliffs the Underground Motel has built a 2km walking track around the hills near White Cliffs, I may go for a walk in the next few days with a camera. I seen part of the walking track yesterday it looks good.

Susan back at work tomorrow I was talking to her today I don't think she likes the cold weather.

Hello John and Glenda in cold Gippsland.

Tomorrow it is back to work in the kitchen.

August 2nd Sunday
An easy day in White Cliffs we took the day off work and did the social thing we went to the Underground Motel for coffee we had a big group there today. And we solved all the town problems once again, we left at lunch time.

I cleaned up outside as it was a nice 17c today in the shade around 25c in the sun. Have to spray some weed killer in the next week or two there a lot of rubbish popping up in the ground after all the rain we have had.

Tonight we went out to the White Cliffs Sporting Club for a meal and so did 70 other people it was a big night at the club. Vicky, Belinda, Kenny, Maxine, Graham and Carol and I shared a table we had a good night.

On the 12th August everyone that can is helping make some money for the town CLICK HERE Variety Club Bash is in White Cliffs we are putting on a meal Wednesday 12th at night and breakfast Thursday 13th. It will need 80% of the town people to support such a big event. We will both help out for the town it will be held at the town hall in the main street, money will support local events.

Tomorrow it is back to work in the new kitchen.

Hello to Doug in Queensland, sent us a train picture sometime.

August 1st Saturday
It August, this year is going so fast, We wake in Broken Hill today and early for us 7am (NSW time) that 6:30am Broken Hill time, had a coffee and packed the car we were at Cole's Supermarket at 7:30am and doing the shopping. The Proton was sure full when we left for home.

Carol took some pictures on the way home from the car.

Daisey flowers they are everywhere today.

I have told many people there is nothing out here, this is what I mean a lot of nothing.

See that little hill to the right well that is home, (now you know why I call it a speed hump in the out back) it a long way Albury Wangaratta to White Cliffs.

When you see the old Red Truck you know that you are in White Cliffs.

After a very long wait the Proton is in White Cliffs (last night in Broken Hill I gave it a really big clean.) POT is here.

I bet the Mercedes Benz enjoyed the rest while we were away. Carol said tonight she missed having Susan here it was good having someone to talk to.

This week I give the Proton a big clean up clean up the paint work, the car sat in Albury for the last 2 1/2yrs Troy did some work on the motor (Troy did a lot of work on the motor) then Adrian and Dianne parked it in their place for over a year. Now it home as Carol said tonight.

Tomorrow we are meeting locals at the Red Earth Cafe for coffee and a chat, then we are going to clean up out side, the weather here today was 26c at home and the lizards were out I said hello to an old friend who been asleep for the winter.

I am planning to get back into the kitchen on Monday morning last week we did a lot when Susan was here I think she had fun helping.

Hello Belinda and Tony (hope you get a fish).

Enjoy the month of August. (if you know of a Birthday please let me know).
