September 30th Saturday 2017

The end of a month and tomorrow is the start of daylight saving, it was coffee at the Underground Motel this morning and the rest of the day was all about the AFL football and a big win for Richmond beating the Adelaide Crows 108-60...

What do we do now no football my Geelong went out last week...

The Underground Motel we close for three months from the 15th of December for a million dollar rebuild a lot of local Opal miners are getting work over the summer.

Adrian had a big birthday yesterday it was a big one happy birthday I was going to leave it out of three dots but hell you don't turn 70 every year.

Told John was moved out of ICU yesterday at Melbourne Hospital.

It looked like rain all day but not a drop, we have between 300 and 400lt's of drinking water left, so we are looking at leaving for Christmas at the end of October it was going to be mid November but that may have to be moved forward.

The jukebox is back!!!! (is on tonight at the sporting club)

A little aged but in working order (like many of us!) Come and celebrate on Saturday, September 30 @ 7pm at the Sporting Club Wear your dancing shoes! Bring a plate to share with your table

Members: No charge, Non-members: $2

And last night we were told to look at the White Cliffs Oval at 9pm a number of big fire works went sky high well done people. We seen the car's come, the sky lit up for about 10min's then the cars left for the pub. Do not know who it was.

Tomorrow a new month...

September 29th Friday 2017
Back working in the caravan today, painting and that will take a few day. Lot of cloud tonight, rain maybe here hoping..

Had a Opal Mining picture sent to me today this is call the Westfield Opal Mining Area there are 80,000 in the area (an old saying you don't walk backwards in White Cliffs) in the centre you will see the Open Cut Opal Mine. If you look close you will see a home, there are a lot of people living on the Opal fields.

The lack of water is starting to show dead trees dirt and dust you will not get bogged in the outback today.

The sun is moving South and we may have to ask they turn the old solar dish's, if you stand out front of the house here you get a instant sun tan and the sun lights up the hill we have had this before.

No news on John in Melbourne Hospital so no change to report.

The jukebox is back!!!!

A little aged but in working order (like many of us!) Come and celebrate on Saturday, September 30 @ 7pm

And tonight I am told to look at the White Cliffs Oval at 9pm no one saying, maybe a light show in town we will just have to wait and see. Afterwards at the White Cliffs Hotel. Its a bit of a secret.

Coffee tomorrow morning.

Hi Doug in Queensland and thanks for the chat on the phone today

September 28th Thursday 2017

We are back in White Cliffs tonight we had a good drive home via Wilcannia where we stopped for fuel and eggs, yes we get our eggs and the Wilcannia BP service station. The Mercedes Benz ran like clock work all the way sitting on 108kph so we are back home.

This is on the White Cliffs road around 60km's from home, it is a very good road all the way to the town the cars in the picture are coming from White Cliffs. Take note how dry it is on the side of the road.

Just in the town the people have been cleaning up, it is looking good and very clean as you can see. It is looking like rain but no such luck not a drop has fallen. The Shell fuel sign is a dud, it closed 20yr's ago.

Heading up towards home Carol took all the pictures today as I was driving along, she did a good job better than my pictures.

The dirt road up to home (our place has a red arrow) all that nice cloud and not a drop of rain.

So back in our own bed tonight, not a lot we can do other than unload the car and put all the food away and that will take a while we have food for a month.

I wish they would fix this road it is really hard on the car and I only on 20 to 25km's...

September 27th Wednesday 2017

Up early we went shopping at BigW then Home Hardware for parts we need for the caravan, the Mercedes Benz was booked in for a service at 10:30am. All the work is now completed on the car for Christmas Maybe some tyres I check that out later.

I always like this picture in Broken Hill this is right in the middle of the CBD in Broken Hill that is the Post Office with the clock tower they are great buildings up this part of town

Looking to the East in the CBD and the main street. (all pictures are taken standing in the same place)

I have walked past this a number of times always in a rush...

From the main street that is the old BHP mine in the background, that is very close to town.

We used taxi in town while the car had a service. Most trip around $10.00 in a cab.

Lunch was at the Demo Club, I have said this before if you have not been to Broken Hill, come and have a look at the outback city.

Here are tonight back at the motel, next stop tomorrow after picking up the food order from Woolworth's will be White Cliffs and home.

John is still in Melbourne Hospital and will be for some time.

Hello to Susan and Muffy in Albury.

September 26th Tuesday 2017

Up at 6am we let at 7:45am driving the 300km's to Broken Hill in the Mercedes Benz, we pulled up for fuel in Wilcannia at the BP service station. ULP is $1.77lt in White Cliffs and it is $1.34lt at the BP in Wilcannia. It is a 100km's to Wilcannia and a further 200km's to Broken Hill ULP in Broken HIll is $1.21lt today at the Caltex on the Adelaide road.

I gave the car a big wash and dropped it in for it's wheel alignment that took two hours so we went to McDonalds' then the Westside Plaza, so we went shopping to fill in the time the plaza is run by Woolworth's. We both have some new clothes tonight.

Broken Hill was a warm 29c with a blue sky.

Here is our motel in Broken Hill we have stayed in the same room 12 times in three years this time we are staying two nights Tuesday and Wednesday night's.

An old pub, no longer open as a pub across from the motel it has a new roof I am told it will be a private home wow that's sure a big home over 100yr's old.

Another pub in Broken HIll now a private home, a 100yr's ago there were over 120 pubs in Broken Hill.

Right across the road is the old BHP copper, lead and zinc mine. You can follow this road to the East to Sydney a long way away.

Looking the other way the roads turns South to Mildura from there you can follow the road to Albury Wodonga and a lot of other places.

Walking back to the motel I seen the sign below.

I never new this... (hope you can read it ok)...

The girls in Albury Wodonga went out to the Hume Weir on the Murray River.

Both Kylie and Susan sent me pictures today, some are great pictures.

Looking out the back of the Hume Weir love the colour in the picture.

Looks like a lot of water heading downstream towards South Australia...

I think this is up the hill above the Hume Dam, Joyce having some fun.

Beside the Hume Dam on the Victorian Side of the river.

Thanks ladies, all pictures by Susan and Kylie...

Tomorrow we are in Broken Hill and the Mercedes is getting a service a full service, we are getting it ready for our Christmas Trip...

More tomorrow from Broken Hill...

September 25th Monday 2017

Can I say it I had a shocker of a day, I left the light's on and had a flat battery on the Mercedes Benz I cleaned it up inside the outside still a mess I clean it in Broken Hill. I had friends over, they good I like them and it was good to see them again.

Graham a local asked me to print out some form for him, that was an easy job and did not take to long.

Apart from that my day went a bit crazy, my fingers and lips had pins and needles as I call it, next thing I found myself on a ECG machine at the White Cliffs Hospital, some people panic the end result is I am fine not a problem but that was the end of my day.

Just back home I am doing Three Dots quite late.

Tomorrow we are off to Broken Hill for two nights the main reason being the Mercedes need a service I am trying to get it ready for our Christmas Trip I am also having the wheels aligned to slow do tyre wear.

They are talking rain on Wednesday night 1 - 5mm they say, well we will have to wait and see.

While in Broken Hill I need a few items to finish the caravan off.

Tomorrow will be a better day, we will leave early for Broken Hill.

September 23rd September 24th Saturday and Sunday 2017

What happen last night you may ask well the whole town had "no power" it went off about 2pm in the afternoon and came back on around 8:30pm last night. It was not just White Cliffs it was off right across the North West of New South Wales no one saying what happen.

We ended up going to the Hotel for a meal they have there own generator as it turned out most of the town ended up at the Hotel for a meal.

Saturday we hit 40.5c and that was a record for White Cliffs in September on record (110yrs) never has it been over 40c in September.

Dust this told the story Saturday after noon I took this picture it was 40c, 75kph wind at home and you could feel the sun burning your skin there is no water left on the ground.

The same area today Sunday still a strong wind and 30c but nothing like the dust yesterday. The cars were a bit of a worried I put car covers on in 70kph wind they lasted less than 30mins I found then in the house next door. Due to the heat we had to put the windows down a little and both cars filled with dust. If you do not put the windows down in 40c heat you get broken glass.

Coffee this morning at the Underground Motel a new local in town is Sookey who belongs to Laura out new nurse at the hospital all Sookey wanted was the car key and she would have driven home, it is a nice dog.

Back home I got out the big ladder and cleaned off the roof a bit they are saying rain on Thursday Night and Friday morning, well here's hoping, we sure need the water.

Friends Peter and Brenda are in town tonight so we are all off to the White Cliffs Sporting Club for a meal tonight.

It's nice to have power back, we were really happy with the home here 40c outside and in our underground home it was 23c just perfect inside.

One thing that did happen last night we lost power, 3hr's later we lost the local phone cell. the phone cell should run on battery for 24hr's (it was out within 3hrs) not good.

September 22nd Friday 2017

The 2017 Annual General Meeting of the White Cliffs Sporting Club Inc. was held at the clubrooms on Thursday, September 21, 2017...

A good AGM was held at the local Sporting Club, all position were filled with ease.

.. President Dick Wagner ... Vice President Cree Marshall
.. Secretary Hayley Atkins ... Treasurer Fran Schonberg
.. Committee ...Peter Thomassen ...Rita Veroude ...Frank Veroude
We all look forward to a great 2017 - 2018
It was a good meeting. Tea coffee and cake afterwards.

I take it this lizard is not happy he been a asleep for four or five months and he came out in the heat today 35c and a very hot wind blowing at 65km's from the North. First Lizard we have seen this summer.

I took this picture last year at the top of our driveway due to total lack of water I had a look today they are all dead. I did water them this month but no luck I need to cut them down and try again.

I got them in a box from a local auction "do you want them, let me know" will not fit the Proton or the Mercedes Benz.

Weather tomorrow 40c in the shade and very strong win again from the North. We will go to the Underground Motel for coffee and toast.

Tonight, Go Cats Geelong.

This has not been a good year for our tree's..

Hello to Adrian and Dianne in Albury Wodonga.

September 21st Thursday 2017

No work on the caravan today we went to the local hospital for Coffee and Cake this morning it was a good morning and we had a good chat with locals.

And this afternoon it was 30c in the shade and tomorrow they say 35c, then Saturday 40c and it's only Spring time what will happen this summer. Remember the 1st of October is the start of daylight saving and I think it is 12wk's to Christmas.

Joyce (my granddaughter) has here first Disco tonight at school and we are sure ready to dance. Tomorrow is the last day of school. Your only six Joyce stop growing up...

This story started last night about 11pm bang, bang, bang on the door and more bangs and more gee someone wants us in a hurry. Walking to the door I open it to find myself looking face to face with a Emu.

He or She pecked a hole in the fly screen and a hole in the wooden door the size of a 2c coin. I put a patch on the fly screen door and a used gap filler to fill the wooden door. This add's new meaning to home invasion just unreal and a first for Carol and I. The Emu took off backwards and so did I, just unreal. I must say it took a while to get to sleep last night, unreal...

I kept an eye on the temperature inside to it was a steady 23c underground all day...

Did a trip to the tip today picking up bags from a few of the older lady's on Smiths Hill.

Tonight we have a AGM of the Sporting Club in White Cliffs so I putt along and see what happens.

Hello to Joyce hope you have a good night...

September 20th Wednesday 2017

Life in White Cliffs is getting warmer they are now saying 35c Friday and 39c Saturday but where is the rain, they are saying no rain and we are looking at 50kph wind there is a good change we will get a dust storm in the next few weeks. We are ready this time only one window to cover and that is the toilet window.

Next job in the caravan is the painting I like the painting that means we are getting to the end of the work inside, today I installed the new LP Gas line in place and we now have a working gas stove. Out here there is no such thing as a gas fitter so I call in some help in the way of a retired gas fitter. He gave me a mark 10 out of 10 for my work.

I also installed the water inlet to the kitchen so we now have water to the sink. Still need to install the water outlet to the sink but I need to buy some fitting's in Broken Hill next week.

Adrian is back home after a visit to his son Chris just outside of Melbourne.

I put it on three dots at the time someone stolen my outside temperature sensor in the Mercedes Benz for months now the outside temperature has been reading -38c... I seen one on eBay for $30.00 and it turned up yesterday in the mail we plugged it in and all is working 100% again it was reading 25c when I went to the shop today.

Have a AGM at the White Cliffs Sporting Club tomorrow night, I go along to add our votes but will not stand for and position. No point we are planning to be away for five months this year.

Talking about our trip away this year we are planning on November 20th a Monday but we have a few things we need to keep in mine. Water at home is a big one, the caravan being ready (I am sure it will be), the weather another one we need to keep an eye on. We are about 8wk's from leaving now.

Tomorrow we have been invited to a Coffee and Cake morning tea at the White Cliffs Hospital. Don't forget the Royal Flying Doctor Service Christmas Gift Book, left hand column...

September 19th Tuesday 2017

Cannot say I had a hard day working on the caravan I am in the process of making the caravan fully self contained, a lot of towns will not let you stay at a free camp unless you are fully self contained. What does it mean, you pull up and leave next day and leave nothing.. You have a chemical toilet that you empty in a dump point, we have had a chemical toilet for three years so that's not a problem.

The water from you kitchen sink and shower goes into a grey water tank under your van and you empty it after your leave the camp site. Our old van will meet all the requirements this year it will be fully self contained.

My own view it's crazy, it's the green's going mad. The trees are almost dead they need any water and we are told to take it with us and let the trees drop dead due to lack of water, we should be unloading every drop of water onto trees.

Old Carl my best friend in White Cliffs, this man is so tuff he will never die he will rust away, he spent the day out looking for Opal. Carl worked in Albury Wodonga at Uncle Ben's Australia now lives in White Cliffs full time. Take note of his dog he tells me "It cheap to feed"...

Carl flies the flag every day in White Cliffs.

This week in White Cliffs have a look at Saturday 38c, 47k wind from the North but no rain... That's what we need.

If you look close tonight two Kangaroos right beside home.

We are going into Broken Hill next week shopping I was going to take the caravan but I need to buy something's to finish it off. So I book a night or two in a Motel.

John still in Hospital in Melbourne, it's a very long recovery from a bad heart attack....

More tomorrow from downtown White Cliffs at the top of the page you will find a link to the Royal Flying Doctor Service Christmas book anyone can order online.

September 18th Monday 2017

Start of a new week I spent most of it in the caravan till 2:30pm then I called it quits it was just to hot 31c in the caravan and 30c in the shade. I must say that some days I need to go look for my brain sitting in the caravan is a air conditioner and I did not turn it on, must have had a senior moment...

Went down to the shop late today and checked the mail, on the way back home I took a picture of the block from down the bottom of the hill.

The very small red arrow is over our home even harder to see is a small blue arrow over our driveway up to the house. It's not a bad picture you can see the top of the caravan. They call it Smiths Hill, out here that's a hill, I call it a speed hump. The home on the right with all the old car is where they did a film for Home and Away last year in White Cliffs. If you drive over the hill you will find yourself on top of the Underground Motel, it is on the other side of Smiths hill. Any green you see here is Salt Bush, the road goes up to Smiths Hill then it goes right around the hill.

Had talk today to the family in Albury Wodonga and Adrian in Melbourne.

I need a better Solar Charge Controller on the Solar Cell on top of the Mercedes Benz don't think the old one is working right. The new one came in the mail today from eBay $16.00 now I have to wire it up the right way without stuffing it up. I get the caravan finished first then do that job.

They say a cooler day tomorrow.

September 17th Sunday 2017
Why would you work most of the night underground, you have a nice Opal find a very nice Opal find today in White Cliffs.

A very nice way to end your day in White Cliffs, what it's worth you ask, cut and set maybe a new car. This is what it looks like in the ground....

The White Cliffs hotel was packed out last night we had we had our dinner there last night with a group of people. Drinks and dinner for two cost $45.00, we can now let Shirley rest in peace.

Paul age around 65yrs came to White Cliffs with a friend from Sydney and sat at the same table as Carol and I.

We talked about Opal and White Cliffs.

They had door prize on the night a book on the Australian Outback by Thomas Upton, Paul won the book and handed it to me “Here Rex you read it, What does a blind man do with a book.”

Next day Paul headed off back towards Sydney he left most things to his friend but never seen blindness as problem saying it's all a state of the mine. An amazing person.

It could only happen in White Cliffs they give a blind man an book.

Back at the Underground Motel for coffee at 10am there were a lot of people there today some 22 sat around the big table outside this morning I think that's our biggest coffee day this year.

Not our art but a great Emu, it's a lot of work, Carol has been working on two art items for the White Cliffs Art Festival in May next year. She was saying that have to be done now as she will not have time next year.

Well that's Sunday in White Cliffs more tomorrow.

September 16th Saturday 2017
The weekend is here gee that was a very quick week we did coffee at the Underground Motel this morning but this day belongs to Shirley and Rob we talked with Rob late morning, as we said, he can move on after today.

He has some very good friends here in town to help when needed.

Shirley farewell is at 3pm today, then we all move on...

Did not work in the caravan today to many other things to do today I think you all understand.

If you look at the Sunset in the picture taken yesterday it looked like rain, but the sad news is no rain we had 1mm so far this month and that was it, nothing last month the trees are getting a hard time and it is starting to show.

Part two today.

I just came home to pickup some jumpers as the town is putting on a big BBQ tonight, it is all over now and as I expected the whole town was there and the BBQ's have come out in the street and it's party time. So we are having a meal tonight at the White Cliffs Hotel the whole town is ready to party tonight.

So I better go back down town and have a meal.

Hope to get Three Dots back to normal tomorrow night.

September 15th Friday 2017
A very big day it started in the old caravan quite early, I am almost there around the end of the month we will take the caravan on a test run to Broken Hill and see what happens when we put it on the road.

This has all come out of the caravan it now be a lot lighter that it was before, now worth noting this is the second trailer load in the last month.

Doug in Queensland sent us a picture of morning tea and coffee, ar that's bad for you. As I said to Doug it's not fair he had this for morning tea, Carol went to craft at the Red Earth Cafe this morning and I stayed home and worked the best I had was a glass of water.

Then tonight a really good sunset in White Cliffs lot's of colour taken around 6:15pm...

Not much else to say we have Shirley Service tomorrow afternoon, nothing else you can say about that.

We all have a seat belt, wear it....

September 14th Thursday 2017
Up early this morning well a lot early than normal, I did some picture framing for Carol she started a new painting a lot bigger than normal, the White Cliffs art festival is on next year (it is held bi-yearly) and Carol started on her master art project, it will take around a month or more.

They got me again last night I left my big air nail gun and a box of nails (3000 pack) sitting on the bench last night, this morning the Kangaroo's have tipped up the nail gun and a heavy box of 3000 nails on the ground and partly eaten the cardboard box. Maybe their going to build a new home up the back of the Underground Home. Only seen it late today the little rotter must be hard up for food.

We had him last year the stick bug is back on the wall, he had a hard year missing a front leg I see they must sleep the winter away. Time to keep an eye out for snakes. It's been two years, we had non last year so I be happy to go another year without one around the house.

Clancy's Hut part of With Cliffs the first person to find Opal in the area, Bernie sent this in and he right 100% the man that did not die one. Have a read then read it again he did die twice he had a hard life, but then I know someone else that will die twice ask Telstra. But that's another story for another day.

This Saturday at 3pm the Town will hold a service for the Life Of Shirley at the White Cliffs Sporting Club it will a really big event with a 100% of the town say they are coming. After doing a head count the club has moved it outside the club they will not have the room inside.

Well that's it for today.

Have fun.

September 13rd Wednesday 2017
The good news today was it rained in White Cliffs I counted 8 drops on windscreen that's it people all it did was dirty the cars. It will take a bucket of water to wash the car.

Back working in the caravan that is turning into a really big job I think we can beat it in a week. What started it was the wall came away from the floor at floor level and it had to be fixed but we had to pull so much out to fix it. A friend told me they had the same problem with their six year old caravan, they are built to fall apart.

Carol went to a morning tea this morning with the girls, I kept away from that one.

Got a new oil filter for the Mercedes Benz today in the mail from ebay it looks good, next trip to Broken Hill I get the car serviced but they don't have Mercedes Benz parts so I have to bring my own haha...

Adrian and Dianne Winnebago Motor Home and a front left tyre come apart that's a truck tyre, now here the good part it came apart on the Hume Freeway Wangaratta, Victoria, right outside McDonald's if it had to happen that's a good place I know what you had for lunch today.

Susan is looking for work now she tells me, if you know of any work send me an email.

For us it's a matter of will it rain, will it we ask it's is looking like a no rain day, I don't think we can count 8 drops.

Back working today.

September 12th Tuesday 2017

A bit late today we had visit from some local friends, yes we had a cup of coffee, they are all talking about next Saturday when the town will hold a local service for Shirley...

I did some work on my family tree today and seen it was my fathers birthday he was born 1903 in Swansea Tasmania that was 114yr's ago... We all had dad's and mum's we remember.

Been building new box seats in the caravan and ripped out all the old wall paper I will now give it a paint job that may take a few day and stain the timber boxes. I been reading all about "Tow Ball Weight" I need to check it over the next few days, if you know about Tow Ball Weight please write to me. All the info I have came from Mr Google, he sure know's a lot.

That's White Cliffs taken from our place late today. You can see how dry it is here.

Today we topped out at 33c here at home and a very strong hot wind from the North of the town I stopped work inside the caravan around 2:30pm just to hot.

Here a video I took outside tonight CLICK HERE no talking just a heap of wind.

The big talk around town apart from Shirley on Saturday is Land Rights and the letter we all got last week. I only have one question.

WHY DO WE HAVE TO HAVE LAND RIGHTS... I have read almost everything and talked to almost everyone so today I decided to ask Mr Turnbull WHY DO WE HAVE TO HAVE LAND RIGHTS. and email his desk in Canberra.

That's a fair question.

Hello to Susan in Albury.. Good to see you are awake.

Have fun.

September 11th Monday 2017

Start of a new week in White Cliffs, I got up and went to work in the Caravan then after lunch the temperature hit 31c in the caravan and I gave up for the day and they say it will be hotter tomorrow, we need rain not heat but time will tell.

The other day we had a picture of a box that the Kangaroo's had eaten outside the underground well there is nothing left they have eaten the whole box.

Bernie we love you, Bernie made up above and sent it up to the website as a email. Great stuff.

And outside we have been sending the water from the washing machine and the wash tub onto a patch of ground for about a month and trying to grow grass for the animals, we have about a inch of grass a meter square now and today two small Kangaroo's had a feed and a drink of water. Great...

Joyce went to a Birthday party at the weekend she went with her friend Pipper, did not put her picture on the Internet, I did not have an ok from her mum or dad. Susan is my granddaughter 6 going on 16yr's...

Joyce again, she is having a PJ day at school today.

Today I thing we have to say Hello Joyce...

No news on John for the last week, hope he is a bit better...

They say as high as 33c tomorrow and a hot wind from the North, I get up early and get back inside the caravan I need to get it finished it been going on now for some weeks.

Bi all have fun...

September 10th Sunday 2017

As I said yesterday we went out for a meal last night at a friends place and it was a big night 36 local people for dinner that what they do in this crazy town I was told last night it was a great night.

First stop was the local garage sale at 8:30am a lot there but nothing that I needed.

Then we did it again with 14 people at the Underground Motel for Coffee at 10am this morning.

Not my picture, but a great picture of a local. Thanks.

Another picture sent to me last night a good Opal find in White Cliffs that's a nice Opal at the top I thing it will clean up real good.

Just laying around the Opal feels whit the weather warming up there is no way I am going near this, snakes this time of year, every old car has a story to tell an old Holden.

At the back door of our place 25c today the sat 27c on Monday and 33c on Tuesday (I should have taken it down when I was painting).

We were talking at a friends place and her dog loves Carol (the dog almost as tall as Carol) sit's on her as say pat me.

Going out again tonight with a group of locals to a meal at the White Cliffs Sporting Club, I know we are never home, your right, but it is the weekend in town. We make our own life out here by sticking together, that what someone said last night.

Here something I was told last night it happen on the White Cliffs Opal fields, Mick was looking for Opal 30ft down below the ground and he had a rock fall on his legs. That far down you have no phone cell he cut the green wire on his lighting wire (the earth) and pressed it in his phone antenna called his wife said "help" 30min's later he was out and in Hospital in White Cliffs and taken out by the Flying Doctor Service. "A good thinker"...

Tomorrow is another day.

September 9th Saturday 2017

Susan is back home from England and home in her bed sleeping off a long flight, it's now time to find work she paid for a trip to England then Target unloaded all the admin staff at all the Target Store's, Susan was there 16yr's, half her life and the only job she has had. So if you know of a job please let me know I pass it on the Susan.

Tomorrow we have a garage sale on in White Cliffs at 8:30am I go along and have a look I need some pipe fittings for the kitchen and for the caravan, I have a look before we go to the Underground Motel for coffee in the morning.

Next weekend we have the service for Shirley at the sporting club, it will be big, Shirley new everyone in White Cliffs and was best friend of Carol I be glad when it's over and Carol can move on, I say that in a nice way.

The caravan we are converting it to a self contained caravan, all the better free camps are now self contained. What does that mean while you are camping at a self contained camp site you collect all you grey water and have a chemical toilet so no water hits the ground. We have a self contained chemical toilet already, you empty it at a council dump point after four days. The shower and sink water will go into a tank we fitted under the old caravan then when in a suitable spot you turn the tap on and empty the tank.

I must say I do not agree with grey water tanks I feel it's better to let the water run out next to a tree and keep the tree alive. The green's say collect the water and dump it at a dump point, that is crazy. We will fit in with council requirements and do the right thing.

We have been invited out for a meal tonight at a friends place, that is why we live here I have lived in a number of places and you go out maybe every six months in White Cliffs you go out every week somewhere.

Like this afternoon we had four cars in our yard people come just for coffee and a chat, but that's White Cliffs every one is a friend of everyone else. Well 99% are.

If you ever read a book "The Opal Desert" it is based on White Cliffs most of the people in the book still live here in town.

There is also a good movie called "Broken Hill" it is a great movie, as far as I know it was shown in the USA but not in Australia, it should have been shown here. Some of it was made in White Cliffs.

Time to go out, Susan have a good sleep.

September 8th Friday 2017

A warm 21c in White Cliffs and a blue sky again they are talking 20 and 30c next week, I better get working on the caravan I need it finished for the summer...

She wanted to walk across the top of London Bridge and she did.

Well we all know where she walked across London Bridge, you can now cross it off your bucket list...

Looking down from the walkway at London Bridge.

London Bridge opens up and this picture was taken in the Engine Room...

Susan I must say thank you for all the pictures...

Filled my day in working in the caravan we now have seats to sit on and eat, It maybe a old caravan on the out side but it sure starting to look good on the inside.

I am always asked about the Land Rights, below is a update letter we received today this is part of the letter, I still only have one question "When DO I Become an Australian" My family has been here almost two hundred years I was born in Australia almost 70yr's ago "Where are my rights, this land is owned by the people of Australia not a small group."

The Department of Industry

The Department of Industry (DoI) – Lands & Forestry is making good progress in relation to the negotiation of an Indigenous Land Use Agreement (ILUA) that will allow your terminated dugout licence to be reissued where it is being used in accordance with the Crown Lands Act 1989.

Following a productive meeting in May this year with the Directors of the Barkandji native title holder to discuss the ILUA, the Department is continuing to work with the Barkandji native title holder group to finalise the terms of the ILUA. Once the terms of the ILUA have been agreed, the next step in the process is to gain approval from the native title holder group and register the ILUA with the National Native Title Tribunal.

The department aims to be in a position to reissue your licence for an initial period of five years in early 2018. This timeframe depends on the approval and registration of the ILUA. This licensing arrangement will provide you with security of tenure in the short term and provide the department with the time it needs to negotiate a workable long term solution.

Until you receive your new licence, the department will not issue invoices for licence fees and you can continue to use the land as you have been under the terms of your terminated licence.

That it for today, Hello to Dianne and Adrian thanks for the eMail...

Have a good weekend ....

We talked about this last night the Kangaroos are eating cardboard boxes this box got the treatment last night they have nothing left to eat you have to wonder if this is good or bad for them, It maybe keeping them alive or should I toss them in the tip...

Sunset tonight around 6:15pm the sun is slowly moving to the South, the ground had a orange glow tonight as you can see in the picture.

Note: Magic Puzzle, it is a jig saw puzzle Carol played it most nights, I found it was sending up a lot of data all the time. Tonight we found it is a virus file have nothing to do with it Magic Puzzle is a virus file. If you have used it then scan your computer.

The virus held me up tonight, so I stop for tonight.

Go Geelong go....

September 5th Tuesday 2017

Back working in the caravan today I am starting to install new box seats in the caravan it all starting to look ok after a full day in the caravan.

Adrian and Dianne are back home after a oversea trip.

Great picture sent to the website of the Royal Flying Doctor Service Broken Hill.

More sea planes land at White Cliffs to refuel there are three in the picture taken at the White Cliffs airport this morning about 10:30am they been up north Australia, all are from Sydney. The wheels fold up and they can land on water. No water here so you need your wheels.

Talking about planes, last night I was talking to Chris Martin from Hay and he is talking about flying to White Cliffs the end of October and staying the night.

Susan will be back home in Australia at the weekend...

Tomorrow it be back in the caravan still have a long way to go before we head off for the summer mid November. If we run out of water we will leave for the summer.

We need rain, the Kangaroos are now in big trouble they are eating cardboard boxes outside at night. There is just no green grass in the outback this year.

Tomorrow it is back to work...

September 4th Monday 2017

You have to wonder sometimes three Sea Planes landed at White Cliffs this afternoon and they are staying here the night at the Underground Motel. Sea Planes in White Cliffs they will not find any water in this town that's for sure. I hope they pegged then down with all the wind we are having today and tonight, I hear Albury Wodonga had a really big wind storm today.

I am back in the old caravan today I fitted the "Cool-Ice" box in place today the door at the far right is the toilet shower the refrigerator is mains power only, we use the ice box when we free camp without power, all the rest is working Gas stove, microwave, air conditioner.

We need to fit a new gas line to the stove and a pipe to the water tap over the sink plus a drain hose.

We are getting there doing a bit every day.

Carol went out for morning tea with some of the local ladies, we have been invited out for a meal next Saturday night.

Susan still in London:

Susan will be back home next weekend, still looking for a job in Australia...

John still in Hospital in Melbourne, hope he comes around soon.

Tomorrow it be back in the caravan.

September 3rd Sunday 2017
Sunday coffee at the Underground Motel with a dozen others it was good only one problem and that is the wind would not stop blowing all day in fact it was blowing all night as well.

Happy Father's day to all the dad's, I had an email for Susan who is now in London and phone calls from Kylie and Scott.

This is the side of the General Store here in White Cliffs most people like the painting on the old building, right is the Post Office and post boxes, we are 407 White Cliffs, it's very old but it is clean. Today Sunday, the Sunday papers will come in around Wednesday.

Being a Non Drinker I quite often go to the pub for a lemon drink, that my limit. It opens at 12noon on a week day and 3pm Sunday, till late.

They have rebuilt the very old White Cliffs Post Office.

For a building well over a 100yr's old it is looking good and after it's refit it looks like it will last another hundred years. It is no longer a post office that is at the general store, it is now a private home. The new shed looks a bit out of place I say it is 2000 plus version.

To my family thanks for the phone calls and emails on Father's Day.

Hope the wind drops soon so I can work in the caravan.

Start of a new week have fun and don't work to hard it's bad for you...

September 2nd Saturday 2017

It was 30c in White Cliffs today and the wind was up to 50kph from the west we were 30c then in a short time we were 18c here at home, I tried to work outside but the wind put a stop to that. The plan was to work in the caravan building some box seating, tomorrow is another day.

I have been sent some pictures of White Cliffs, the Opal fields from the air part of the 80,000 holes in the mining area.

Thanks for the great picture of the White Cliffs Westfield mining area.

White Cliffs and the Mercedes Benz all clean sitting on top of Smith's Hill.

The White Cliffs Church it holes one service a year during the Music Festival, it is made of local rock...

Tomorrow we are going to the Underground Motel for coffee in the morning and I hope the wind drops and we can work in the caravan.

Susan will return to London tonight our time I talked with her today on Instagram sounds like she is having fun.

I checked out a computer for a couple today, nothing I could do to help it was blowen apart big time with a big power spike from some where.

A service for our friend Shirley will held in White Cliffs on the 16th September.

That's it for today not a lot happen due to the wind, tomorrow we will try again.

Happy Father's day to all the Dad's...

September 1st Friday 2017

Spring is in the air, We went to Woolworth's then drove back to White Cliffs to in the little green monster the Proton had it's big trip for the year, it went well.

We used less than 1/2 tank of fuel from Broken Hill to White Cliffs, real happy with that.

Bernie been back on the job again the two Rex's in the same picture (well done Bernie but we must tell the truth we are over a 1000km's apart) well done love it...

Had a good trip back today the Proton used 6.8lt's per 100km's, it's back to the Underground for Coffee tomorrow.

After coffee tomorrow I will get back into the caravan rebuild, still have a bit of work to go.
