Tuesday 30th April 2019 and the end of another month.

On the road again Coolac to Bungendore (Canberra) and easy trip today around 150km's but we did have a lot of hills on the way here...

The Hume Freeway it is a good road and the divided road makes for an easy trip I sat on 88 to 92kph with the caravan on the back...

Hume freeway heading towards Yass...

We got a new hot water system for White Cliffs in Wodonga early Monday morning and sat it in the back seat of the car. Today we sorted out the back of the car and moved the hot water box to the back of the car to free up the back seat.. All sorted now and ready for the trip back towards White Cliffs next week but it will be a slow trip home...

We need food going home and I need to see a doctor in Broken Hill about my diabetes that is sending me crazy...

Tomorrow we are meeting up with Ian and Pauline for lunch...

Friday we are going into Canberra we need to vote, and I want to visit Ikea store. Friday we are meeting up with my daughter Susan at her place...

We have a busy time ahead and we are looking to have fun...

Monday 29th April 2019

Back on the road pulled up for the night at Coolac you may remember we here on our way to Albury Wodonga back in. Just had a look 19th 20th March, but this time we are only staying one night, tomorrow we move onto Canberra for six nights...

All taken at the Coolac caravan park... this is a new park a real 5 out 5 park...

We area told rain on Wednesday Thursday and Friday in this area so tomorrow we will move on Canberra, Adam 40th party Saturday and then Sunday to Monday next we will move on towards home...

It be a slow trip back towards White Cliffs, no rush we are looking at being home around 17th May....

By the way this park at Coolac cost $25.00 night with power and water... Really clean showers, toilets....

That's it for tonight, Have Fun...

Sunday 28th April 2019

Doug in Queensland sent me some pictures for Three Dots today so I put the website up early today. The family here been away on the coast for ten day and home today and we move out in the morning...

Hi Rex, Hope you’ve stopped bleeding!
Over Easter the AALS held their annual convention of live steamers (AALS) at the main Brisbane club’s track. Each state gets a go on a rotating 6 year voluntary roster. (I did not attend this time.)

On Tuesday our Nambour club hosted a ‘post convention day’ at our track, to which we had plenty of visitors, with a total of about 40 heads for lunch.
Many of them brought their loco’s with them, but only a few were unloaded & running as it was pissing’ rain most of the day. So...... much talking was done instead, as we have plenty of covered areas. Nambour had about 150 mm rain over the long weekend & up to Wednesday

I’ll attach a few photos from the day, note the section of track with water flowing over the rails! A bit of water didn’t worry the steam locos & drivers!
The Southern 105 is actually an electric ‘dummy’ steamer look-alike!
My electric loco stayed dry in the Coaster Van!

All photos taken on my small Olympus digital camera.

The next day was when I bought the new phone with it’s camera, which I’ll try out tomorrow at our public rides day.

How much red mud will be in your tank? good that you finally got some rain tho’.

Cheers, Doug.

(Queensland)

Good picture Doug, that's a nice train..

Then the rain came along but the trains on this line just keep running...

Looks cold and wet, but always time for a chat...

That's a lot of work... building a train like that... To build they cost around $30,000.00

Lunch is served...

River crossing...

That one way to remove the water...

That's real steam train...

As I said, we move off tomorrow morning back towards Canberra we have a 40th birthday next Saturday night then a really slow trip home to White Cliffs, really slow...

Susan when home to Canberra today and we will see her next weekend at Adam 40th party...

From Canberra it is about 1200km's home via Mildura and Broken Hill...

I have been asked where to next year, maybe a long stop in Terang Victoria it has a nice caravan park that we may stay in for three to four months... We talked about the best place we have been to that we like and we both said Terang... We will talk to the caretaker about a price for a long stop... Nothing set in cement yet but we are working on a plan...

Can plans change, they sure can one park we were going to this year had a bush fire and the park burn and is now closed... The fire was well before our visit...

You all have fun, next week...

Saturday 27th April 2019

Susan came down from Canberra for the day, that sure made Joyce happy...

Does anyone know about this flooring it feels like rubber of some type...

Kylie would like to live in the new area of Thurgoona... From Albury drive to Kingross Hotel Thurgoona then about three hundred meters turn right at the new round-a-bout your there this new area will be home to 7000 to 9000 people your looking at the start...

Then we decided to cross the road and have a look at the new display homes there be about seven to look at...

The black poles, you may find them in White Cliffs..

Nice room good colour's well done...

Ummm not bad like what I am looking at...

Like the use of stone work very little amount of lawn to water...

I like the stone work and the use of big rock and I just happen to know a home that has a million rock...

Very nice area and worth a look I left at return to Wodonga via the supermarket need food for the cat.

I seen a lot that will help in White Cliffs we spent a lot of money on tree's in White Cliffs, dead they are all dead I am told nothing left. So we may need a garden of rock black, white just need to look around.

Almost 7pm so I get this up on the net...

Have fun this weekend we move off on Monday Morning...

Friday 26th April 2019

I have never seen so many people in Dean Street they were four and five deep right along Dean Street...

There would be well over 1000 people in today's march....

It's old but still in good running order... Makes a lot of noise...

Korea just after the time I was born 1949...

There was a lot of police in the street and a small number in the march today...

Not a great picture almost into the sun two helicopter in the sky above Dean Street Albury...

One big group was Thurgoona Public School where Joyce goes to school...

Joyce with teacher today...

Joyce (back this side, long hair)... a small group of the school...

Sorry about the picture's it was very dark and a lot of fog in Dean Street, not a good day to take a picture but like always we do the best with what we have...

Well three dots is early today...

Wednesday 24th April 2019

A quite day in town we did go shopping in Albury City the hard part was finding a parking spot, we found one in Olive Street across from the Police Station and walked on foot around the street. We then went to Wodonga Plaza where Carol did some shopping...

I found some pictures on Wodonga below...

The old railway goods shed (note no railway line ) the old goods shed is now food and shopping...

Good picture this one Wodonga CBD area the new Coles (where Mann's use to be) and the new Woolworth's area and again note no railway line... The new railway station is at the North end of Melrose Drive Wodonga about 5km's from the CBD... Up the end where the Water Tower is, the road is closed right now as they are doing street road works...

How many time have the Wodonga Council rebuilt High Street...

THIS IS CRAZY:

NSW Police said they pulled over the 24-year-old on the Pacific Highway at Ourimbah yesterday afternoon after noticing she was using her mobile phone behind the wheel.

While they spoke with her, officers noticed the car seats her three young children were in were not properly secured.

The children were aged one, three and five.

Police said the younger two did not have their shoulder straps tightened properly.

The woman was issued with four different infringement notices — three for not properly restraining the children and another for using her mobile phone.

She was fined $1,348 and received 28 demerit points — 14 of which were accrued due to double demerits during the Easter long weekend... Read More Click Here

Sunday 21st April 2019

Running really late I had pictures on the New Phone, and I had to get the pictures from the phone to the computer... That's a shocking job I ended up sending myself an email there must be a better way....

The Big News:

Rain in White Cliffs.. 5mm and more to come... that means a lot take our rain water tank 1mm on the roof puts 70lt's in the tank... So 5mm x 70 = 350 lt's in the rain water tank and they say there is more rain on the way....

Vicki sent me a picture water in her garden, how good that...

The sky tonight at sunset in White Cliffs, the town may get more...

Susan picture taken in Batemans Bay yesterday she and her mother drove over from Canberra for the day...

Nice blue sea that area be busy over Easter...

Susan I like this picture really nice, thanks...

Right outside Susan door in Canberra today the Light Rail system went live, this it is a free weekend...

Susan said a 20min trip on the Light Rail and a 5min walk she was in the city today... It will open up a lot of new places in Canberra...

Well it's late so I stop talking and try find a better way....

You all have fun...

Saturday 20th April 2019

Did not go to far today Carol had a sore foot we are all getting old but we did go for a drive to the Albury City Gardens in Wodonga Place.... They are nice gardens to visit, I want to go back and do the Rainforest Walk at the gardens and the Heritage Walk...

You do not get better than this...

We sat in the park and had lunch...

There were a lot of people in the gardens today around lunch time....

If you live in the area go have a look...

Now the reason I went to the gardens today and that was to fine a wishing well...

Read below.

The story behind the is that my father built it in the gardens and at the age of six I went with dad on a saturday and laid a rock or two at the wishing well... I hear they are talking about moving it... They need to modify it not move it... my first bit of rock work...

They are talking big rain over the next four days in White Cliffs I hope they are right, if they get 20 to 30mm or rain the town will turn into a mud pie...

Easter Sunday tomorrow and you all have fun we are looking at having a family day...

Have fun...

Good Friday 19th April 2019

Well today we stayed home in Wodonga and I worked on a website "It Is Not Finished" but close just needs a date and address.

To see what I did click here

This is a blokes auction in the Albury Wodonga area, there are about 100 pictures on the website so far...

. Had a lot of comment on this picture that Bill sent me the other day, great picture...

Also a winning picture we had on around two weeks ago. Yes it is a winner...

I had a question last night what is my best picture, that's hard it's not easy to pick one in over 10,000 but this picture of Bill in White Cliffs rates high on the list...

I like this picture taken in White Cliffs I think October 14 it David (with cap), with myself, David from Gippsland "Two Guys Having a Chat".

Taken back in 2014 (with the old camera) Wet Cement, will I jump, will I...

Had good fun looking at old pictures tonight... Three dots started September 2013 and this was one of the first pictures...

You all have fun this Easter...

Wednesday 17th April 2019

We are in Wodonga at Carol daughter we are baby sitting the house and the big dog, really big dog, the family going away about ten days. It was a hard day we packed up at Troy and Kylie place dropped off the caravan at Dianne and Adrian place. Then we moved in Wodonga...

All pictures tonight came from Bill in Queensland, they are great pictures...

Hi REX, I Decided to have a look at the boats after walking to the point at Moooloolaba  this morning so I could show you some new pictures. Hope you like them .

The canoes are taken at the Mooloolaba outriggers club which is near the Yacht club there . I also had a look at some of the bigger boats where the trawlers are, I also took a photo of Last vintage which looks like a pretty old pleasure boat , haven’t seen that one before at the wharf. I have visited this area many times for work purposes as quite a few trawler operators buy supplies from Auto one such as filters and engine parts . One of those customers has 5 boats , I have known him for many years .

As I said up top great pictures, really good....

I hope to do some small repairs on the caravan tomorrow, looking forward to seeing Wodonga area over the next ten days...

You all have fun and Bill thanks for the pictures tonight...

Tuesday 16th April 2019

Today Tuesday we went for a drive to the Hume Weir. White Cliffs has 1% water and unless we get more rain it will happen in Albury Wodonga... All pictures today are by Carol...

Looking at the back of the Hume Weir wall today you can see it is low on water...

The first thing you notice is the road it is near perfect I have never seen the road to the weir in such good condition...

The road around the weir on the NSW side of the weir...

Bethanga Bridge, look how dry the hills are in the background of this picture...

You have to ask "where's the water", I have seen the water down to 6% many years ago and years back I was in my old boat and the water was so high we could not get under the bridge... Adrian and I where in the boat at the time.

My father Jack (born 1903-1986) came to Albury to work on the building of the Hume Weir years later he told me he spent time working in this old stone quarry the stone was used on the weir wall around the corner..

We had a good day and good fun at the weir...

Saturday 13th April 2019

Thurgoona the town I always call home... Today my daughter Kylie lives here with Troy...

My mothers surname was Wignell, and the Thurgoona St. Johns Church was built on Wignell land back in the 1800s it is still there today 288 Old Sydney Road Thurgoona...

This is the site of the local Telephone Exchange where my mother lived and worked... Site that is in the 1980s the really old home burned down in a bush fire, it was replace with the new home you see in the picture in the 90s... It is next door to Kingross Hotel Thurgoona but has nothing to do with Kingross...

Out back of the house is the only part of the old home a blacksmith shop from the 1800s it is still in working order... I built and bent red hot steel there when I was around 10yr's old with my late Uncle George I stayed at the old house and back 60yr's ago he fired it up to show me.... The good old days....

Then late afternoon my granddaughter Joyce took me to the local playground, Joyce said you are old and slow you need a walking stick... Come on girl give me a break I am 70yrs old in a few weeks, July....

Not all of today was good, my team Geelong LOST in the AFL. That's not good...

So time to say Have fun we did today driving around Thurgoona...

Friday 12th April 2019

Thurgoona is home to my Mother born 1916 - 1992 today my daughter Kylie just lives down the road from where my mother lived.

Thurgoona Post Office opened on 1 January 1874, closing in 1961. And for 35yr's my mother was working and lived at the Post Office in Thurgoona...

The first land release in Thurgoona was St Johns Hill in 1978, followed by St Jones Green in 1980, Corrys Wood in 1981, St Hilaire in 1985 and THurgoona Park in 1986. The 1980s were a time of massive growth and development in Thurgoona. Thurgoona Drive and Elizabeth Mitchell Driver were completed by 1982, connecting Thurgoona to Albury via the Hume and Riverina Highways. Soon after the Thurgoona Golf Club opened its first 9 holes in 1983, followed by a further 9 holes in 1985. In 1986 the Albury-Wodonga Corporation moved its headquarters to Thurgoona. By 1989, a hotel had opened at the golf course, a new shopping centre was under construction, Thurgoona Public School opened and the Thurgoona Industrial Park opened near the Albury Airport.

In March 2010 Thurgoona saw the opening of a new Thurgoona Plaza, with Woolworths, a Hume Bank branch and many other new shops. New shops include a tandoori restaurant, hairdressing salon, pizza shop, pharmacy, butcher, bakery, two cafés and a takeaway store.

Over the weekend I am going to take some pictures of the area just to display on Three Dots.

Tonight we are in Thurgoona at Kylie place in the driveway sorry no pictures but I make up for it tomorrow...

I am here with Joyce my granddaughter....

Have Fun...

Tuesday 9th April 2019

On the mover as you know the last two nights we have been on the Victoria Side of the Murray River at Wahgunyah. It was a free camp and a good one but, no power and last night it was cold on the river. We read it will be 2c tonight so we packed up and hit the road driving 75km's to our old hang out at "Walla Walla" it has power for our heater and water a hot shower and toilets...

We are the smallest rig here tonight at Walla gee they done a lot of work here adding a toilet "Dump Point" and two new power poles around the park each of the poles has power and water for a extra four vans....

I am sure we can call this a big rig look at the size of it, most of these are full time home's on the full time... Worth around $250,000 ....

Another big rig Jayco maybe $200,000

This is a really big rig ... A converted bus with a car trailer on the back. The trailer has a washing machine in the front with a dryer... This is a full time home..

And then we have a very small rig "Our's" but it's been home for the last six months and still going strong... By the way it cost $10 a night to stay at Walla or $50 a week $7.15 night...

We are here for three nights then we move into Albury, this park at Walla Walla is getting better and better and the computer sure loves the power...

Hi Doug and Bill in Queensland....

You all have fun...

(We are no longer the smallest rig a Ford Transit van just pulled in haha)

Monday 8th April 2019

A real bad day for Solar Power we had cloud cover all day....

So I do my best to tonight with the power we have in the battery....

I feel the words tell the story....

That's a really old tree and the first church in the Corowa area... Beside the Murray River...

I was asked does the free camp have a toilet, yes it does but no shower, we have our own in the caravan...

An old bank "Bank on Victoria" gee it make a grand old home....

I am short of power so that's it for tonight hope we get sun tomorrow...

You all have fun....

Sunday 7th April 2019

We moved out of Benalla this morning and header towards Wangaratta then turned north towards Corowa we found a free camp on the Victoria Side of the Murray River at Wahgunyah. We are right on the river well (30m away) it is a great camp...

From near the caravan that is the Murray River, what a great spot...

Looking back at the caravan so it is not far to the water...

Why do they do it, not far away there are some 20 caravan's and they are so close to each other you have to wonder why.... We are a 100m away with one other caravan and it be 20m away form ours... People like to camp on top of each other...

That is the main bridge across to Corowa...

Nice picture looking across the river...

Looking the other way away from the river, this is a really nice spot...

Well we are here (no power) a heap of water and it's all FREE we are running on solar power now but today we had a heap of sun so we have power tonight...

You all have fun....

Saturday 6th April 2019

Our last day in Benalla and our last day at the Wall to Wall Art Festival in the Benalla area today we go out of town to see more local Silo Art...

Today it was Devenish a small run down very old town around 35km's from Benalla and part of the Wall to Wall Art Festival...

The street was packed today (the power of Silo Art)...

How good is this in Devenish town not that far from Albury Wodonga and Wangaratta... Want a business there is a shop empty across the road, the town needs a coffee shop....

As one person said, Art, It's a touch of class...

Have a read and it is worth reading...

Across the road a very old pub, Carol and I went for a coffee...

Inside the Devenish Hotel we had a bite to eat and a drink (coffee), it very old...

As I said it is very old but very clean and well setup... and today it was packed with people looking at Silo art... We had a good time in Devenish.... It's worth the drive...

Devenish from what I seen only one place open in town "The Pub"...

Went to Aldi in Benalla today, as we are moving off tomorrow just not sure where? I am going to look at a Free Camp on the Murray River been thinking about doing a bit of river camping, will check it out north of here...

Tomorrow another day so you all have a good weekend...

Wednesday 3rd and Thursday 4th April 2019

A bad day yesterday my diabetes was a really big problem, I gave up had a shower and went to bed... We had a better day today going to Goorambat then to the "Benalla Caravan Park" we had a good trip from Wangaratta to Benalla today...

The NRMA says Australia is lagging so far behind the rest of the world in adopting low-emissions vehicles that a ban on the sale of new internal combustion engines should happen within the next decade.

The UK and France have already announced plans to phase out the sale of new petrol and diesel cars by 2040, and other countries including Germany and China have indicate they intend to follow a similar path.

NRMA CEO Rohan Lund told Four Corners Australia has a lot of catching up to do.

"So if anything, our targets here need to be a bit more aggressive than what we're seeing in other markets," he said.

"I would expect to start seeing targets that are between 2025, 2030 for banning [the sale of new] petrol-driven cars in this country.

"We don't manufacture cars here — we're recipients of the cars coming from Europe and from Asia.

"I think in many ways we won't have a choice in this country."

Opposition Leader Bill Shorten will today unveil Labor's climate change policy — the plan it will use to reach its target of cutting emissions by 45 per cent by 2030, and ensure half of Australia's energy comes from renewable sources by 2050.

As expected, Labor is planning to expand the Turnbull Government's safeguard mechanism, forcing around 250 of Australia's biggest polluters to cap their emissions — while exempting the farming sector.
