Went back to cleaning up the front yard again today it has so many wild woody weed which I am finding hard to kill off.. up near the house I been chipping out all the weeds...

Over where we have a one site caravan park for family and friends... I still have more to do along here like move that timber and other rubbish... Maybe tomorrow I do that...

From Ian and Pauline now in Cowra NSW...

Took some photos of the Lachlan river, note the rubbish hanging from the chains and also compare the levels since we were here last... As I said Ian and Pauline have moved to Cowra from Yass, the caravan back on the road again... We love Cowra Carol and I stayed there last year it is a great place to stop on our travel...

The big question is will we get away in our caravan this Christmas Carol and I both hope we can see the family at Christmas time some are in NSW others in VIC we will just have to wait and see...

You all have fun this week we hope to....

Thursday 13th August 2020

From Kylie and Troy in Albury Wodonga...

The last time we seen the grand kids was last Christmas, my daughter Kylie sent us a picture of Joyce today, who lives in Albury NSW...

White Cliffs:

You can see today's weather in this picture, above. Looking down our driveway it is not a bad picture..

From home that's Turley Hill, you can see the phone towers and the underground homes...

You do not see this often in White Cliffs "Push Bike's" you have to take care not to hit a rock...

From Bernie in Howlong:

Ian and Pauline picture, (Update Bernie) Thanks for the Yass photo Rexie. It has come in handy. The Old and the new... HaHa...

While this article is dated 2016 it interstingly shows a wild flower simi liar to one you photographed a month or so ago. In trying to identify your flower, I have been through 100's of photos and references trying to ascertain what that species is, and this ABC photo of the plant is as close as I can get. It's called a Fleshy Mimuria. The interesting thing also is that it says that plant is RARE, perhaps only popping up once-in-a-blue-moon in White Cliffs.
View the ABC you can CLICK HERE

The ABC articles I sent you were interesting from the fact that plentiful blooms of native wildflowers in particular, pop up en masse when growing conditions are suitable. That could be every 10 years or so when some species that are considered "rare" or endangered spring up...and often in areas not previously seen. The climate has a good influence and the point I note in those ABC articles is that recently "Spring" flowers, that is those that usually bloom in warmer september /october are popping up months earlier. In my double photo of the Fleshy mumira plant and your photo, whilst there is some difference in both plants, they are both of the wild daisy species...

You also asked the question where the afghan hops came from. I made note a few months ago when you sent me your photos that it was the afghan came leers that used the dried hop heads[flowers] as cushioning for their saddles. The saddle was generally a calico bag of sorts, and when the bag wore and split, the hop heads as seeds fell out along the camellers journey. That is why wild hops are so widespread throughout Australia....Plus the fact that winds easily translocate the seeds over 100's if not 1000's of miles.

Last pic of different sturt desert pea shows cross "hybridization". I am very knowledgeable on "Hybridization" because I have studied this in fish for many years. Hybridization is where two similar species have cross bred. An example is the cross breeding between Murray cod and Trout cod to produce a hybrid cod. The occurrence of this in the last two years with cod in the Murray and Murrumbidgee Rivers is plentiful. The thing is that any fish or animals that are hybrids cannot breed with their same kind or other similar species. As for the Sturt Pea. As far as I can determine there is only ONE species/genus of Sturt pea. It would need another similar, but genetically different Sturt pea for hybridization to occur. I think the colour change in the 4 various Sturt peas is a mutation. That is, a change within the plant itself. The external influence that could induce these changes are many. Temperature, soil moisture, soil mineral content and regional differences could be all involved in the change of pigment.

Last photo of "White Cliffs in full bloom" was a 2010 photo I found at random on the web. WC must have had good rain that year. I remember 2010 as when the prior long drought broke.

Bernie Thanks a heap for you input...

Big Three Dots, you all have fun...

Wednesday 12th August 2020

Jerry Blom, a good friend for many years lived in Albury Wodonga all his life passed away yesterday, I miss you mate..

My day was doing a full service on the Hyundai (finish it tomorrow)

I let the oil out of the motor and it ran into a plastic bucket but guess what the bucket had a hole in it... (guess I stuffed that ...) The bucket never filled up...

How good this in White Cliffs, we get great fruit here last for weeks... We put in a order at the shop, the fruit come from the Adelaide market yesterday and in White Cliffs today... Not cheap but we sure love it...

From Ian and Pauline in Yass..
If you have a electric car you now charge it in Yass... as you can see in the picture a new station has been installed in Yass, NSW...

The flood water still running down the Yass River, look at the hand rails...

A very big clean up will be needed in Yass when the flood water stops...

Thanks to Ian and Pauline....

Wednesday and You all have fun...

Tuesday 11th August 2020

White Cliffs:

Weather wise it been a shocking day in White Cliffs we had no rain but very cold with a cold wind we had around 13c most of the day.

This was today in White Cliffs but looking at the weather it was much the same for everyone in the east of Australia...

I took some pictures around our place a lot of green bush and after all the green it is fresh and a live....

Makes a nice picture up on the hill above home, really nice now it is green...

I I planted this tree in 1995 (25yrs ago) it was about 100mm high at the time... You can also see the top of the Underground Home air shaft that comes from the second bedroom below 28ft Underground... Hops the red flower are every where...

On the hill (no mans land) and the end of our land to the East (more rocks)...

It took all morning to plan next week medical trip to Griffith as I said yesterday ( the staff needed at Broken Hill Hospital come from Adelaide, and due to Covid-19 they cannot come to Broken Hill right now...) So we are off to Griffith and it is a long drive 698km's each way, 1400km's return .... It took all morning to plan the 4nights away... All booked now and we head off on Monday...

It's hard getting old. Must say a really big hello to Joi and Peter in Melbourne, apart from Covid-19 (they do not have Covid) Peter has been very sick (we think about you every day Pete...)

Hope you like the pictures around home I took today it is really starting to green up after all the rain we had at the weekend...

You all have fun...

Monday 10th August 2020

Yass A day after the rain and the damage is high. The leaning tree of Yass has so far survived. Yass what a bad weekend from Ian and Pauline, the Yass river...

Over the years I have seen people swim across this river, not today the day after big rain...

Not the day to walk along the river that's for sure... Thanks Ian and Pauline...

The big tank at the back of the White Cliffs hall there are a number of tanks on the other side of the hall...

The SES radio tower in White Cliffs..

The building is own by Parks and Wildlife but is seeing very little use...

The White Cliffs General Store the only shop in town... the price of goods is well up there fuel 171.9 lt ...

The Solar power station in White Cliffs, no longer in use but was the first place on earth to draw power from the sun...

We had a much better day today 18c and a blue sky they say rain Friday (well maybe) the weather man got it right last weekend)....

Covid-19... Yep we had some scans in Broken Hill (not covid) well after three month's they now say they cannot do them, Now we are told to travel to Griffith NSW and have them done there... Seems the staff needed at Broken Hill Hospital come from Adelaide, and due to Covid-19 they cannot come to Broken Hill right now...

So next week we are off to Griffith... Then home by the end of the week...

That's Monday more tomorrow... You all have fun...

Sunday 9th August 2020

Still not a great day but we have had no rain so far today we had 1/2mm over night , tank full remember last year we were looking for water this year we we all full up, that's really good news...

We were at 12c when I took this picture looking to the West and it was really cold... We sure had a lot of rain this year that's for sure...

A lot of mud around town this section always seems to get dirty, the main tank in town is full so we have water to the end of next year...

The caravan park is half full today a lot of people from Sydney in town away from Covid-19 we just need it to heat up a bit...

The dirt road up the hill to our place is a really big mess, it be dry by Wednesday but need a grader real soon...

All the roads are all two wheel drive stuff but my car will need a big car wash that is for sure... It has been very cold and wet the last five day and talking to family it the same down south. And the pictures Ian and Pauline sent us yesterday from Yass NSW it really wet there...

You all have fun time to do some weeding while the ground is soft...

Saturday 8th August 2020

White Cliffs felt colder than cold today we had 9.9c at home and in 4mth's it be 40c here I try remember this day in the summer time...

Ian and Pauline had a heap of rain in Yass New South Wales as you will see below:

Look at that over the top we flow...

In town the road over the river is a wash in Yass today...

I think the road is closed looking at this...

Ian and Pauline thanks for sending the pictures...

White Cliffs on what you would say the coldest day in a long time I was thinking about and planning summer working on how to block the heat out of the underground home... That was my day, I need to do a lot more planning for summer..

We ended up having 22mm of rain at our place from 4pm Friday to 4pm last night....

A lot of very cold wind today this will dry the ground out and get rid of the mud (we hope) it was not the rain it was how cold it got at the end of last week... We did not drive the car's today just sat it out at home...

You all have fun this weekend...

Friday 7th August 2020

It is still cold here 10c right now mid afternoon and it just started to rain as I type this.... Hope we get a fine weekend here but just have to wait and see...

I walked over to read the rain gauge and as you see from my foot steps light mud covers the front yard...

You do not often see this in White Cliffs a water puddles... I feel we will have a big flower spring right across the outback this year..

After 19mm of rain (and it just started to rain again) looking over town the big birds are getting an updraft of air, the wind is now from the North and hitting the hill and lifting the birds high in the air...

The Jacaranda tree loved the rain... This tree is a story on it's own.. I try tell it as I see it, first the Jacaranda was planted in 2015 and I had a wire around it the wildlife just ripped the wire away to eat the Jacaranda tree and after three years it was around 20" high... And badly eaten...

Then along came some support in the way of a special tree, (wish I new more about trees) this tree grows wild around here and has a very heavy scent coming from it's leaves, the wildlife does not touch this tree, never...

Maybe it nature but the Jacaranda has grown to seven feet this year with the other tree keeping the wildlife away if you look at the picture above you will notice the two trees... If you have any comments please sent them to Three Dots..

eMail click here

Well that's today tomorrow another day, and it is still raining right now... You all have fun...

Thursday 6th August 2020

Revealed: where NSW is holidaying now
NSW people are staying in NSW...
Trips to the outback of the state (taking in mining towns including Broken Hill, Minindee, Silverton, White Cliffs and Bourke) have also been rising, with most caravan parks full or near full...

.. And as 6:45pm tonight 0.6mm of rain we will just have to wait for that 20 to 40mm of rain.... We had our coldest day in White Cliffs 10c today and it is really cold we had to turn the heater on in the underground home...

..Crazy this was at 5:35pm tonight on the East Coast of Australia, The government are not even trying with Covid-19 this is a screen dump of planes on Flight Radar 24 tonight (they are just flying Covid-19 Australia) someone needs to show this to government...)...

From Bernie in Howlong NSW..

As it was then. The credit for this photo is to  ABC Rural, Central Victoria. The date and location unspecified. Photographer not named but accredited in absentia. Scene could be a small country town like Clunes, Creswick, Maldon, Daylesford or the like. Perhaps even Maryborough or outer Castlemaine. Typical small town rural central Victoria. I still breathe much of that past air. A classic photo herewith that I will place  on my Computer, opening Homepage to help obliterate all the superficial shit on this  Coronavirus brainwash indoctrination.

A cold day you all have fun....

Wednesday 5th August 2020

From Donna: Sunbury ...

Today SNOW in Sunbury Victoria, it sure made the homes look good, great and it is nice to see every few years..

The flowers will like the fact that all that snow turns to water, it be nice to see, Thanks Donna...

White Cliffs (no snow here, I was told they had snow back in the 1970s:

A quite day today after such a big day in Broken Hill yesterday we went to the Post Office in town then a drive to take some pictures... (Out near the airport)....
From the airport looking up the hill towards home that is Smith's Hill in the background....

Gee it is really dry but the weather man has made a call of 20 to 40mm tomorrow we will just have to wait and see...

A dirt crossing across the creek in White Cliffs people do not use this crossing much, I did today but keep away when it rains, right now there are a lot of weeds in the creek as you can see....

From Bernie in Howlong:

Last week when you said you had strong cold winds in White Cliffs on 25 July 2020, here are some pics from ABC website of the big wily-wily that was photographed at Mundi Mundi station in the Silverton [Broken Hill] region. John Dyson was the photographer.

The best wily-wily I have seen was at White Cliffs, one hot summer's afternoon in the early 1980's. I just happened to be staying with Joe Curovic at his Stubby Bottle Opal shop where a wily appeared about 2 pm, virtually "out of nowhere". It hit the caravan park and picked up a 12 x 12 foot heavy canvas Marquee tent, poles guy ropes and all, and took the tent still looking normal and filled with air, flying and spinning up some 400 feet altitude in my estimation. The tent hovered directly above the caravan park for about a full minute and there were shoes, sox, clothes and other articles flying out of the airborne tent. A pair of ladies underpants were found in front of the hospital. The wily-wily abated and the tent dropped to open ground near the post office. I wish I were quick enough then to grab my camera from the car but things happened so fast.. Wily-wily's have many names: The most common being "dust devils" and another odd colloquial name, "cockeyed bob".

.....

Thanks Bernie great stuff and love the pictures...

Well that's Three Dots for Wednesday you all have fun....

Tuesday 4th August 2020

When you drive to Broken Hill and back home it is always a very big day, very big... 600km's return we will sleep tonight that is for sure....

Broken Hill today the Woolworth's shopping plaza....

The main street of Broken Hill around midday....

Still in the main street of town today we headed home...

The Broken Hill Post Office it is very old and nice building...

Some time ago we got diverted around here seems someone with a caravan drove off the main highway to Sydney at night looking for a camping spot and over the bank into the dry creek they went... If you drive off the road here drive really slow...

As I said we had a really big day.... Our biggest shop today just over $1000.00 two reason we are planning to stay home away from Covid-19 for the next 6 to 8wk's so it works out around $120 a week meat veg the lot that's about normal for two people...

You all have fun this week, we are being told big rain on the way....

Monday 3rd August 2020

Not a good internet in many parts of Australia we had the net up most of the day but off at times... I think Telstra should say what happen did they get hacked or did they have a problem... Australia should have a better system than they have now they need to move towards a off set system, what they have now is a sitting duck for hackers...

The flowers are coming out across the outback if we get rain this weekend as they are saying it may well be a flower year it is a sight people should see...

A small number of flowers came out over the past week when they come out they cover large areas...

I think it will be a flower year in the outback of Australia...

We had a warm 21c in the shade today and they are talking rain at the end of the week...

Broken Hill tomorrow we are doing a food run 600km's return, I can say I like the return in one day but staying in a motel is out of the question right now, why you do not know who stayed in the room the night before (did they have Covid-19).... So in and out on the same day....

In the month of July the website had 484 hits, some people look every day others once week, just good fun.. The old site in the USA will close in a few days ..
All information you see on Three Dots is stored in Canberra Australia..
Covid-19 we all know is a massive problem worldwide 2020 will go down in history as the year we lost over a million people.
We have lost so much around the world on the internet 1000s of sites have closed down this year due to Covid-19...
We will all go on.. Rex.

You all have fun...

Sunday 2nd August 2020

Most of Australia has had no Internet all day in Sunday, what a mess in Australia ...

Talk tomorrow..

Saturday 1st August 2020

We are having great weather in White Cliffs 21c blue sky just great weather....

Ian sent this picture from Yass and as he said the Ruby must go on, fog and unable to see the post.. (good picture it is hard in the fog with a camera..)

From Adrian in Albury a trip to the NSW side of the Hume Dam, Bowna Water's that the boat ramp... (that is a really good picture, great stuff)

Our first visitor for the year 21c and out came a Stumpy that is the first wildlife in months...

I swap the front tyres on the big car today and they are heavy, this works great our 12v electric car jack and rattle gun to remove the nuts and refit them.. This set is worth every penny you pay for it.. Turned a hard job and made it easy.. We found this on eBay about a year ago... (one point start you car for extra power..)

All packs up into a neat box....

We had Marg over for coffee late today and a chat... That was good, we had nothing planned it just happen...

You all have fun this month...
