A very big day we went into Broken Hill and back home to White Cliffs 600km's return... Went to the Chemist Shop and the supermarket then we left town heading for home a lot of the shops are closed in Broken Hill I needed some paint but could not buy it...

Most of the day was on the road...

We had light rain, as you can see it is green in parts dry and red in other parts...

It did look like rain today but not a drop fell our way...

It is a good road with a few bump you give it 8/10...

Goats on the main road in a number of places...

Not a lot of trucks on the road but we seen 50 plus caravan on the highway and a lot of cars...

Goats but not a lot of wildlife on the road...

A lot of places are closed even the truck stops have fuel only little amount of food Fuel was $1.299 at Little Topar today..

We had a big day, getting to old for big drives.. but due to the Virus we did not stay in a motel just not worth the risk...

Cannot say it was fun but be ok after a good sleep...

End of the month..

Sunday 29th March 2020

The Internet has been out of order the last few hours in town but back on now...

Last night I went outside at sunset and took this picture to the west...

A new moon in the west taken last night.

I did plan to put up what people hade sent me but with Internet problems I put that on hold a day...

The Virus has been found in Hay NSW today that's not good... Just seen the PM speech on the Virus and saying people over 70yrs should stay home ... We are going to Broken Hill on Tuesday we need to buy food and visit the chemist I am told the police are pulling over cars on the highway... the next few week look like being fun...

Today I fixed the vacuum cleaner it just stopped I found a wire broken in the lead, all working now...

That's it for tonight you have fun...

Saturday 28th March 2020

We worked on cleaning the car out today and we still need to clean it out gee I took a lot out of the car today from our six months away on the road...

Will it rain I am sure we will get something in the next week....

I took this picture standing on the front step of our new front door this is the view from the new kitchen...

Will it rain a big yes or no...

I was doing a rubbish run to the tip and went via Vicky place a few doors away from our place she doing up her bathroom and laundry what a great job...

I had some items sent in to me for three dots tomorrow should be good and a lot of fun... Keep it coming...

We are planning a run into Broken Hill on Tuesday its 300km's in do food shopping and drive back home a 600km trip.. All in a day we would not feel safe staying in a Motel or Hotel the virus is forever in our mind...

You all have fun tonight...

Friday 27th March 2020

The town so quite we see no one this virus has sure closed the town down and from what I can see two places remain open General Store and Hospital... That's it...

Caravan Park closed power turn off and water turn off... The sign tells the story...

School now closed...

The cleaned up Solar Power Station is now closed to the public... And it just open...

Went to the Post Office, check the mail nothing. I go to the tip over the weekend ...

Had one water pipe that was still giving me trouble with a slow leak so I went up above the house and pulled it out and fitted a new bit in place 6ft long, and so far all is good, no leak...

A number of people come to White Cliffs for six months from Western Australia but they have all been turn back at the South Australia border..

As for the weekend we just have to wait and see but nothing happing in White Cliffs...

You all have fun... Hello to Doug, Bill and all in Queensland...

Email Three Dots and tell us what you are doing... rexdun@outlook.com (Come on give me a short story)

Thursday 26th March 2020

Lotto tonight 80 million dollars what would you do with that sort of money... Write and tell us what you are doing ...

Like many other people we are home locked away from the World with very little to do I need a trip to the city to buy timber, pipes and fitting but not game to make such a trip...

Looking to the east we are seeing a bit of green last night we had 3.5mm rain on the roof and the tank over full... The green is starting to return....

Nothing open in town and almost all cancelled, White Cliffs has always been full of life in the outback... but right now nothing...

Write and tell us what you are doing... You all have fun, it's a sad World...

eMail rexdun@outlook.com

Wednesday 25th March 2020
Did a bit much today and late afternoon fell in a heap, but all good after a rest... The Solar is back on the roof and all the 12v lighting is back up and working 100%...

I needed to get the trailer back and running I get the pressure washer out in the next day or so and give it a good clean... Today checked the wheel bearings pumped up the tyres may even give it a paint soon...

Took this picture inside the underground home at this point we are around 24ft underground we have not turn the heater on for five years.. We do run the fan on hot days today inside it was 23c to 25c late afternoon... Just luck it is a good ad for Woolworth's we are watching television via Vast TV ..

Running Late you all have fun...

Tuesday 24th March 2020

A good day in White Cliffs weather wise and maybe tonight a drop of rain they say 80% of 1 to 5mm... I filled the rain water tanks inside that made room for 70lts in the main tank out side if we get rain...

What else I took my solar system out of the car and fitted it back in the house a lot of the lights are now back running on solar in the new hallway... We had it that way at the end of last year...

We are having a big cleanup in the underground looking at what we do not need anymore room by room...

The fire station locked up as far as I know we had no fires in the local area this year...

The local creek back on the dry side after 35mm of rain last month, maybe tonight...

The caravan has one van onsite it's ready for Easter...

Due to the Virus the local church will not open this year it only had one service last year...

Taken from the top of our place today the trees made for a nice picture...

Our driveway needs a bit of work this year ...

Felt better today the last four or five days have been hard, just need to clean up outside they had some big wind over the summer and we have a lot of rubbish that came in on the wind...

My granddaughter Joyce is home schooling the next few weeks due to the virus...

You all have fun...

Monday 23rd March 2020

New week in town and it looks like a quite week for White Cliffs and the rest of Australia that Virus has sure made a mess of business... Hard times for the people but time to stay at home...

Pub almost closed read below...

Well that's a first for the town, they have an open air sales out back...

Guess who left the key turned on in the car today yep got a flat battery so I took the car for a drive around town.

The last two pictures taken from Turley Hill today looking across town...

Tony who lives two doors away been away around a month came home today and hit the road with his grader late in the day...

We worked inside the underground home today cleaning up it is looking good I have one patch to fix around 30cm square section...

I read 28c here at home but it was a lot hotter in the sun...

Sunday 22nd March 2020

It is Sunday and I had an easy day, last night we went out to a senior week lunch it was good even if we did sit around 2m apart... Today we met up at the hotel for a drink very small group of five people ... It has been a hard week with a lot of driving then when we did get home we had to fix a few things. Water and Toilet system ...

Back of the White Cliffs Hotel lunch time today it was near empty...

Inside the hotel at the bar the staff were cleaning up.. The umbrella on the roof is where you toss money for the Royal Flying Service, you can also see the Menu on the wall...

The shop and Post Office in town the staff are sitting outside... Not a lot of people in town the Virus...

The Opal shop quite, very few people are moving around town the Virus is a problem for people in caravans.. We have had no virus so far in White Cliffs...

If you follow Three Dots you would read late last year about the new road 5km's long to the East of town... Well it is complete and we are sitting on the end of it...

That's the hill we live on "Smith's Hill" from the end of the new sealed road, I have always said Smith Hill is a speed hump... Good picture by Carol... This road passes the local tip it was a shocking road, as bad as you can get now it is the best road in town..

The old problem, speed I went to the tip doing around 85kph and a 4wd passed me on the new road must have been doing 140kph at the time... Why do that, just crazy speed...

Getting hot here 32c at home, outside in the shade need some cool weather to cool the underground home down it is 4c above normal at 27c ....

You all have fun ...

Saturday 21st March 2020

Fixed another leaking water pipe today found it outside it wa a old black poly pipe... Need to do a lot more work on the pipe's and replace quite a few... Australia is getting hotter this year White Cliffs had a 49c in the shade, people are telling me it was 75c in the sun that day some say it was hotter that that... To answer some question I had why did the toilet melt inside. When we go away we always turn the mains water off at the water meter. On the real hot day the toilet wall in facing the outside, if the hot sun did make 75c on that wall the normal system would melt the fine parts..The toilet wall where the system is facing north...

I need to paint the roof of the new hall way and kitchen...

From our place looking over the town... I clean the roof with a garden blower when it rains I want a clean roof so the water that flows into the rain water tank is clean....

The town of White Cliffs from our place...

Old solar power station been cleaned up a lot and is now open to the public...

Up the hill on our land above the house (28ft below) it needs a lot more rain...

that box on the right is our 240v mains power box it is dry up here...

Joi and Peter in Melbourne, Peter does not have the virus but Joi is taking no changers passing him his coffee... Bit of fun hahaha...

Well tomorrow is another day so you all have fun....

Friday 20th March 2020

.. Went to the doctor yesterday and was told there is no Corona virus in the west of NSW White Cliffs and Broken Hill are free of the virus.

As for me, my problem is diabetes (I new that) and have had more test and they be back in two weeks when they have results..

It must have been really hot here over summer.. My toilet system had a melt down it is all plastic inside and the plastic twisted in the heat

I need a new one but no shop in White Cliffs I built replacement parts out of wood with a file and knife all fixed better than new.. The toilet button is out of line so we now lift a wire to flush.. Works a dream. 1/2 second lift for a piss 2 sec lift for no 2s

Rex (White Cliffs toilet repair service) Bit of fun...

Where did this come from a White Cedar tree popped out of nowhere while we were away ....

We have had White Cedar Trees growing here for many years...

Car needs a wash but it had the day off.. After a very long hard six months...

Apart from the White Cedar this is our only living tree...

We had 33c in the shade today... It was hot in the sun...

Good luck Bernie in Melbourne Hospital, we are looking forward to a great weekend...

You all have fun...

Thursday 19th March 2020

Back in White Cliffs Area remember they just had 35mm rain three weeks ago... 35mm to a lot of people is not much out here in outback New South Wales it adds life to the area...

35mm and three weeks you can see the green...

Coming into White Cliffs 20km's South of the town the old bridge has water it has been a long time...

Have a look at that green beside the old road, that is a great site...

All the rivers run 10kms from White Cliffs (well it did run across the sand )...

Our own drive way as you can see we had a bit of a wash out part way down that I need to fix...

You can see the green patch in town beside the creek.. (you can grow heaps in the outback just add water)..

When we got home I turn the water on and found a bad water leak a pipe had split open after some time looking I found a replacement pipe and fitted a new one... All fixed now but it took some time...

Monday 9th March 2020

Well today we went no where we stayed home and started packing as we move off on Wednesday morning and head towards White Cliffs NSW.... I started packing up outside under the awning we also did the washing a really big wash...

..
Bill sent me this just to hard to understand...

Have just come back from eumundi markets. Haven’t been there in years it’s only about half hour away . Then I thought I was careful when parking and that I had till one o’clock. One of the stall holders I knew said be carefully because signs are confusing here lot of people get booked . I parked car at 9.15 and checked on it about 10.10 just afternoon I was warned ... too
Late parking inspector was just walking away from that row of cars. He said yea nearly everybody in that row got a ticket. The stall holders facing the street are warning people all the time as some people never come back if they get fined they say it’s not right also...

I just read it Bill that's what you call a money maker...

Any way I saw Mick Dundee there he poses completely still until you give him a coin. A good look alike that’s for sure. Going to get a neck back and shoulder massage now as have sore spot in my neck. Fine was 60 bucks . Cheers Bill...

One of my pictures Bernie in Howlong worked over for us, it look great well done...

Year In Review

2019 was a very exciting year for the Far West Proud initiative. We saw more collaborative work take place throughout our region, with the goal of attracting and retaining our population. The Far West Gift Card program grew with more businesses joining and benefiting from the local shopping initiative. The Far West Proud website usage and social media following grew, enabling us to deliver more information about Far West NSW to more people.

We look forward to seeing the initiative continue to grow as we move through 2020 and we encourage anyone wishing to learn more or discuss Far West Proud to get in touch.

Sunday 1st March 2020

Today came from my daughter Kylie and my granddaughter Joyce who made a visit to the Bonegilla Migrant camp. It may sound funny but without this camp we would not be in White Cliffs...

..

Your whole life was in a suitcase when they came to Australia...

Bonegilla Migrant camp this week taken by Kylie and Joyce...

Bonegilla Migrant camp is open to the public if you visit the Albury Wodonga Area it is a 14km drive to the Bonegilla Migrant camp...

My granddaughter Joyce at Bonegilla...

Kylie found this at the camp my good friend Karl Brunnenmeyer and Wife Rosemarie and family... Karl worked at Uncle Bens Wodonga for years they then moved to White Cliffs and he became an Opal Miner.. I went to see Karl and Rosemarie at White Cliffs and liked the living.. In the 90s Rosemarie passed away at White Cliffs I went to White Cliffs and while there brought the land lease we now live on in White Cliffs...

Karl passed away in 2018 and his asher's are in White Cliffs cemetery with his wife....

Karl and Rosemarie had a large family and I met them all over the years... Really nice people... The family came from Germany to Bonegilla Migrant camp in December 1955...

When you can see no future, what do you do?”

Bonegilla Migrant Reception and Training Centre was once made up of 24 blocks. It had its own churches, banks, sporting fields, cinema, hospital, police station and railway platform. Today, Block 19 is all that remains of the original site. Bonegilla Migrant Experience brings to life the stories and experiences of the people who travelled through the centre.

The Bonegilla story began in the years following World War II, when millions of people seeking a new start and peace, departed for Australia. An army camp at Bonegilla was transformed into a migrant reception and training centre where new arrivals lived while they were processed and allocated jobs.

Bonegilla became the largest and longest operating reception centre in the post-war era. More than 300,000 migrants passed through its doors between 1947 and 1971, with most of those originating from non-English speaking European countries. They had diverse arrival and settlement experiences. Many migrants recall arriving lonely and confused, unsure of where they were going and what they would be doing. Others saw Bonegilla as a place of hope, symbolic of a new start.

In December 2007, Bonegilla Migrant Reception and Training Centre - Block 19 was recognised as a place with powerful connections for many people in Australia and a symbol of post-war migration which transformed Australia's economy, society and culture under the National Heritage List.

Today, Block 19 is a public memory place. The site and its associated oral, written and pictorial records in the Bonegilla Collection at the Albury Library/Museum bring to light post-war immigration policies and procedures that changed the composition and size of the Australian population.

Kylie and Joyce thanks for the input to "Three Dots", Kylie is a master with a computer and Joyce life is built around a computer...
