From Ian in Silverton (Broken Hill)

The amount of water flowing into the dam must have been huge.
Most of the floodways would have been closed. The one closest to Silverton had flowed up to the edge of town.
Looking at the colour of the water out at the dam a heck of a lot of soil was washed down.

Thanks Ian

Well that was our day, the weekend is here...

Thursday 24th September 2020

Did some more work on the roof (to stop water coming inside during a big rain storm) so far so good. Then I went back working in the caravan just giving it a big clean up inside...

The local creek still has a bit of water in it, so someone with a lot of time has made a Crocodile out of rock in the creek. What can we say other that "it could only happen in White Cliffs"...

See Saturday 5th September 2020 below...

Hi Rex,
Just found the details of the Bugatti on Shannons Club site. 1925 & you're about right with the million bucks. Notice no mudguards, rear lights or number plates but it was driven away about 30 minutes later. Pure co-incidence that the owner shares my first name!

The one and only White Cliffs Church it was used only one day a year, the White Cliffs music festival but that never happen due to Covid-19 this year... So no service this year...

Beside the dirt road near home wild flowers...

The White Cedar came out yesterday, it sure grow quickly this year....

Ian and Pauline came today in there caravan and parked at our place it good to see them again...

You all have fun this weekend, we will...

Thursday 10th September 2020

If all goes well Ian and Pauline will be here tomorrow afternoon for a few days... Be good to see them... All we needed to do this week was clean up with the vacuum cleaner after a bit of a dust storm over the weekend...

Went for a drive to the air port with the camera about 4km's away, nothing there so I took this picture of the hill where we live from the airport...

From the air port how some live in the back ground you can see the caravan park...

The White House again from the air port this is the best underground home in Australia, why call it the White House well it is all White and the Whites own it very nice people...

This is our local phone tower from the air port with a lot of zoom on the camera, we seem to have a lot of trouble with it at times...

Bernie sent this just after Fathers day:

G'day Rexie....and Happy Father's day to you. Hope your kids remember how kind and generous their Dad was to them when they were little and that you will need to hitch the trailer up to the Hyundai to pick up all those Father's Day presents from the WC Post Office when it opens Monday morning. Anyway, your 3 dots photo and snippet other day tells of the present beaut bloom of Sturt Pea in WC. I thought readers, particularly those in White Cliffs, might like some information on growing them. There's 2 separate articles attached that are a good informative read. Sturt Pea are not as difficult to grow but they need some very specifics to get them up and running. I like the concept in the second article that says they grow best in old concrete pipes. Also today the lady [Jane] up the street gave me some pig face succulent cuttings. I will grow these in small pots and when you are next in Albury I can give to you to take to WC. They are a lovely flower , need virtually no water , love WC type soil...and no animals eat them.

Thanks Bernie sorry I am so late...

Thanks all and you all have fun....

Wednesday 9th September 2020

Wednesday what you call a very mixed day hot and 27c in the shade, I worked outside all day then the wind came up in a big way but I kept working and all good... Late afternoon we lost the sun and it was replaced by dark cloud and now at 5pm it is raining quite heavy...

We only need 1mm to fill he rain water tank... 70SqM of roof and 1mm rain puts 70Lt's water in the tank....

Been working in the caravan and cleaning up outside the caravan (it is looking a lot better tonight) I been feeling a lot better the last few day and only working about 4hrs a day...

The rain gauge is waiting for a drop of rain and so are the trees...

This camera good in most ways but does not like low light..

Aussie invention could save old coal stations by running them on zero-emissions 'Lego' blocks
The blocks can be used to run steam turbines at power stations as a clean alternative to burning coal, and at a fraction of the price of storing energy in batteries.

The shop had a big load of fruit and Veg in from the Adelaide market today the quality is better than any Supermarket, Carol had a big shop today...

Ian and Pauline will be here at the weekend well that is the plan, looking forward to seeing them...

You all have fun this week...

Tuesday 8th September 2020

What a warm day in White Cliffs 34c and a very hot day, so I took the temperature out in the sun it recorded 41c so I did almost nothing in the sun today in fact the reason for being late today is that I fell asleep in the chair in the underground. And for the record it is still 22c in the underground home ...

It did fall to 21c over the winter but will warm up over the next few months...

The caravan park is just packed and I call it full after what I seen today there are so many people here from all over the country...

One thing I did notice was the IOR fuel depot is always empty seems you need a fuel card to fill up and very few people seem to use it... They only sell diesel fuel...

One thing I did find today was I had no Internet in the underground home something has changed I ended up taking the computer out front to the new kitchen where it worked fine.

I talk to Scott in Wangaratta about setting up a better wireless network...

A big hello to Chris Duncombe who cut a thumb using a saw blade today... Chris you need to cut the timber not the finger...

Peter is still having treatment in Melbourne we are thinking of you every day...

Monday 7th September 2020

Back in the caravan all day today and did some painting inside the caravan just giving it a big clean up, looking a lot better that it did before... Just taking our time this year we have no set date to leave, it is a matter of wait and see but we will not be going into Victoria...

Sunset tonight in White Cliffs nothing special other than bright orange...

Took this of the hill some 40km's away with a lot of zoom ....

Not sure what going on here looks like a road crew but there been sitting in the same place for a week on the edge of town something must be on the go some place...

Guess it's water and diesel fuel in the black tank did ask what going on but no one is talking....

We had some great news Ian and Pauline are coming to see us at home here in White Cliffs, it be good to have them visit, we talk about five days a week on the phone they are great people.... Right now they are in Cowra that's a place we like...

You all have fun this week...

Sunday 6th September 2020 Father's Day... Thanks to my three, love the calls...

Worked in the caravan all day doing a big cleanup job and fixing anything that was broken and I have more to do in the hope we can get away over summer....

Looking up top above our place and not the hop they are everywhere this year...

Looking into the block next door no one lives there yellow flowers and more hops...

Above home in the wild west of new south wales...

This is at home the hops are growing like crazy this year... Now Spring is here the are growing all over the place...

Really got into the caravan today big time for about five hours cleaning it all out....

Big win for my team Geelong today in AFL...

Never seen a sole all weekend so very quite here... So you all have fun next week...

Saturday 5th September 2020

Doug in Queensland saved the day for Three Dots I had no pictures tonight I take the camera out tomorrow. If you have any pictures please send them on to me, love that....

That car is a Bugatti Racer and would set you back around a million dollars and they drive it to the beach. You have to wonder how much money some people have. All tonight's pictures from Doug in Queensland...

Worth see a ferry wheel that big ...

It be great to live where Doug and Bill live they always take great pictures....

White Cliffs we went out for a meal at the shop last night and today we started cleaning out the caravan in the hope that we will get away over summer...

I am very late tonight (Doug thank you) and you all have fun this weekend...

Friday 4th September 2020

The weekend is here and tonight we are going to the shop for a meal, we went last Friday and it was a good night.. Had to jump start the Proton again we got it going and then I took it for a drive out the road and back 40km's so it is all good again. I am going to take it for a drive to the Post Office in town three times a week (mon, wed, fri) just to keep it in running order... Well that's the big plan...

This is a local made blower, around the 1950s old but still working a blower is like a big vacuum cleaner, they put a 8" pipe down around 30ft... When mining the rock come up the 8" tube into the drum at the top.. When full the drum will open up and dump the rock up to...

This is a late model self tipper the drum at the bottom goes down the hole again around 30ft they fill the drum and send it up to the top it tips over the end and automatically return to the bottom of the hole...

Sturt Desert Sweet Pea they are in town but people cannot keep their hands off them and a lot of people pick them... You may see them every five years, it be nice if they left them alone...

Well that's Friday and as I said the weekend is here, you all have fun...

Thursday 3rd September 2020

Doctor's Day in White Cliffs a crew of about six people came to town to look after the local people, doctor's and crew. They setup at the local hospital in town and from what I seen they were busy all day... In town today it was a warm 31c and a 40kph wind ....

From White Cliffs:

The Flying doctor in town today...

The pilot would be over 6ft tall and works for the flying doctor service...

Out on the Opal Field today they were drilling for Opal one hole at a time... The holes are about 1m apart and they drill 50 holes in 50SqM I guess it beats digging for weeks...

You need to get the dirt up from below the ground, and this is a self tipper that a lot of miners use...

This is what you use for digging a big hole the easy way there are a number of big diggers out on the Opal field...

Up early tomorrow and we planning to clean out the caravan, in the hope we can go away this Christmas camping... Well that is the plan for tomorrow...

From Bill in Queensland:

Hi Rex , I got to bed early so was up early to make the most of the day . I had a big breakfast then a walk at
"Cotton Tree" area Queensland before 8 am . I send you couple pics

Bill as I said before you live in a really nice area of Australia, Bill thank you for all the pictures...

Thanks people it is warmer here this week but they say it will cool down tomorrow... Not that 31c is that hot ...

You all have fun and it is Friday tomorrow...

Wednesday 2nd September 2020

What a day in White Cliffs we hit 32c here today and a 50kph wind from due North so what did I do, well to tell the truth nothing at all, read and watch TV in the underground. For the record it is 22c in the underground home ...

From Ian and Pauline in Cowra:

More pictures of the Lachlan today, certainly has gone down. More rain required, pictures from Ian in Cowra. Carol and I like Cowra and hope to return there this coming summer with the caravan.... The show grounds caravan park in near the Lachlan River... (Thank you for the pictures)..

They say the weather will be much the same tomorrow Thursday and cooler on Friday....

Need to make a trip to Albury soon and buy some piping for hot and cold water needed for the new kitchen....

Quite day, you all have fun...

Tuesday 1st September 2020

It's Spring Time a new month and winter is over...

Over the last few day I found a great place to park the car. It may not look much but it took almost all day to clean up this area...

This is a better picture where it is next to the tin shed and next to the NEW about to be built workshop inside the metal frame.. After I cleared the site I ran the metal detector over the ground and removed all the metal in the ground....

Brother Adrian gave me a Gel Battery (blue one) he has no longer used for it. I hooked it to the Solar Cell on the roof of home and so far all good. All the 12v in the house is now running off this battery... And must say so far all good...

The weather man saying tomorrow will be 32c in White Cliffs, that starting to get up there but we are to have a cool wind so just have to see what happens....

You all have fun in September...
